Realistic timeframe for op??!?

Hi,
I have my 2nd appointment (the first appointment with the consultant) on the 7th of September. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a semi-realistic timeframe for when I could have my op? I will be at the Whittington hospital. I don't have any co-morbidities. I know it'll be largely down to extra appointments with the endo, psyc etc if requested (don't know if I'll be having any of these yet!!).

Thanks!!

Anyone??

Thanks anyway!!!

Hi Megg, just a quickie, Im sure if we don't have any test in cld be a matter of a few months, I seem to remember them saying 10 weeks? not certain though!

Like you I don't have any co-morbidities, Mr Sufi stated that due to my disiabilites I may fulfil nice funding? Im just hoping and crosing my fingers and toes;).
I am contacting my Endio consultant to ask him to send a letter of support; because he said he wld support me, I also thought if he sends a letter it may mean I won't have to see a endio consultant at the whittinton seeing they will have my own endio consultants report. Anything to help shorten the waiting time:).
Alot of hard work is'nt it hon.
Hugs xx

Hahaha. Sorry if I woke you up with my text!!!

I think it was seeing that 10 weeks things in another message that got me thinking. If all went well then could it really be that quick!?!? I do meet NICE guidelines as my BMI is over 40 and I have tried many different diets in the past, but I have no written proof of this. Are they likely to make me do a course of some sort first??

I must go to sleep, I know, as I'm starting to come up with all sorts of reasons and problems!! hahahahaha!!!

Thanks hun!! Night!!

Good luck with forth coming appointment, there seems to be huge variations on the time scales of getting a date, but some people ring up weekly to check cancellations and changes of appts and get in much soone.
I arranged my date around when the specialist was operating as i am paying privately.
Take Care and get planning your menus ,rest etc enjoy the process whilst waiting Mia

Haha thanks. Sorry for the weirdly neurotic messages last night!! Was having a bit of a wobble after chatting to someone (bloody men!!!) about it. Back on track and calm about things!

I did plan on calling to get earlier appointments etc but I can't get time off work earlier than around the 7th anyway so that suits me fine!! It'll only be about 4 weeks since my group session so I'm chuffed to bits!!

I was told when the dr applied for funding that as soon as the consultant says yes they have to do it within 18 weeks. Having said that there was a discussion on here a while ago where people thought it didn't apply to wls. Sorry if that doesn't help but just wanted to tell you what the dr told me.

Hello Megg,
Im not sure about the diet thing, I too have done many diets been to weight watchers, slimming world, also did a 3 week daily food plan to show the GP what I ate every day, I have kept this has proof plus it has dates when I done this.
I have'nt got co-morbiditis either but my endio consultant gives me reg blood test because I am risk of them (all linked to my health problems) I also have early signs of osteoporosis:rolleyes: combined with my knackered spine, goes on and on does'nt it!
Each case is different its not text book is it, Im sure they will take many different things in to account how being over weight effects each of us, like everyday life; being able to sit in a chair in a cafe/pub and not being able to get out again! Hiygene problems washing, dressing needing help everyday. Walking, going up or down stairs, all these things can effect us.
Hopefully someone will came along and can help us out with this.

Thanks!! Wouldn't it be so much easier if they had strict and detailed guidelines as to who can have and can not!! I know they wouldn't be able to do this as everyone is so different and unfortunately there isn't an endless pot of money!!
