Hi All

I just wanted to say how inspirational you post oppers are and how brave & hopeful us pre oppers are & how insightful this forum is.

I'm a newbie and i'm undecided between the sleeve and the bypass.
I'm 34, 5"2 and currently weigh 18.and a half stone. I was 20stone at my heaviest. I walk with a crutch due to pelvic and back pain which i'm hoping will be better with weight loss.
I have had most of my tests but still need to do 2 so i'm still quite a way from my "date"

Anywho its been great to meet u all and reading all the diaries and seeing the pics helps so much.

xx S xx

lovely to meet you wannabe this forum is so great for all sorts ofinfo. :) xx

Oh it has been a God send and i'm addicted to reading all the wonderful stories and the progress is amazing. Its hard to vision that it can be me one day but this definitely helps x S x

I was the same wannabe but now im four days post op and loving it knowing that im finaly on the other side :)

I had the sleeve hun havent been in too much pain which is a god send. trying soups today but keep forgetting to eat only had a few teaspoons earlier of tomatoe yuk lol now having wild mushroom much nicer. does get abit painful when eating but only in a bloated windy feeling if u know what i mean :)

That's so good, I have a high pain thresh hold (I think) so i'm hoping what ever I have done I will heal quickly. I have 2 daughters aged 12 & 2 so I won't get much chance to be out of action for long lol. May I ask what made you decide the sleeve? I'm 60% decided on the sleeve but recently ppl have been making me think of the bypass x

Welcome, l am also a pre opper and on the waiting list for a bypass, hopefully after my holiday in June.x

yeah np I was actually decided on the by-pass because at the time my hosp only done the band or by-pass I suffer from chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia so the band would be too much maintenance ie follow up appts fills n de-fills. So when I went for my meet and greet type of meeting they agreed the band was not a good option but asked me if I had considered the "sleeve" I said I hadnt read upon it because you didnt offer it so they just explained that they had expanded and had done several of these ops and they thought it would suit me ie my eating habits I was a grazer rather than an eater so I went with there choice as to me they were dealing with this on a daily/weekly basis and should know which was best option for me. :) So best to read up on all options and then you can argue/disagree and also stand your ground if you have a definate decission on which you personally would prefer because at the end of the day itis your choice. Good Luck. x

Hi and welcome. I personally decided for the bypass, because I have a sweet tooth and because I am type 2 diabetic. I think it depends on your other health issues and your eating habits, but many hospitals nowadays go with what you feel comfortable with. Good luck, hope all goes well for you. X

Wannabe just thought I would let you know I have started a post op dairy warts n all you may find errrmm well I'll leave you to decide it will be under the sleevers section. xx andps I also had a sweet-tooth to a fashion usually a time of the month thing.

Hi wannabe I was like you couldn't decide. I'm self funding so originally it was going to be a band but then I changed my mind and more money I eventually decided on the bypass and it all set for Monday. I'm so nervous my fears are never being able to eat properly again but I know I will in small amounts. Hope you make right decision for you and good luck
Annette

Oooooo Monday! Thanks Annette that is a worry and also becoming obsessed with eating. Does that sound mad? What ever op I have I know will have to make sure i'm eating breakfast lunch and dinner to stay on track... I guess that's only a good thing as I skip meals and i'm huge so that doesn't work lol.
Anyway good luck, I hope all goes well and do keep is posted x
