remoska or crockpot?

I've been following this thread and I have to say I've now decided to get a slow cooker :)

I'm thinking also of getting a food processor. Always wanted one but I don't know what kind to get. It can't be too big or expensive. Can they all purée? Do you guys have any pointers on this?

I got one from Amazon for a similar price, it has a replacable bulb and they send you a spare so it seemed the best option though Dh, being part Czech, wanted to splurge on the Remoska from Lakeland. I also got a slow cooker. I'm waiting on the grill, I think between these two I can turn off the Aga and make nutritious meals, though I'm going to have to experiment with a scrambled egg in the halogen, see if I can get it to set without browning, maybe mixed and covered in foil.
Dh is debating getting a full outside grill or the Foreman. Obviously the Foreman is cheaper and they seem to last - when we moved to the US temporarily his mother took our UK one then when we moved back from the US my mother took our US one so this would be the third for us. But they're both still using the ones we gave them so they seem to last a long time. It's just a matter of storage for small appliances, we need to extend our kitchen already so I'm pushing for something outside!

If you have a microwave, you can make your scrambled eggs in that :)

Really? I'm one of those folks that thinks of the microwave as a warmer-upper machine. I only learnt to do bacon in it last year. Do you just scramble them up and set them in there? For how long?

No advice on a food processor. My aunt (who is French so take it with a grain of salt) insists that the only one to buy is the Magimix. They're so expensive, I've done without. But every time I see her mince an onion in a minute without tears I'm sorely tempted. I'd love to find a cheaper one that works well.

It's easy, you put the beaten egg in a bowl in the micro for a min at a time. I usually take it out and mix it in between x

I have a kenwoodfood processor. Love it. Does everything. Since op blender beenvery handy. Also has a juicer.

I used to have a food processor, but since I bought my new stick blender would never go back. Easier to clean, can be used in easy clean bowls and you don't have to tip food into a faffy food processor bowl. Plus good stick blender - 60 pounds, good magimix, 300 pounds. And I do everything with my blender that I could with my food processor and then some.

by the way, if you haven't guessed it already I am a sucker for kitchen gadgets lol

To be honest my stick blender is my best spend. I did spend a lot on it, or rather my mother bought me the shiny new one but it is powerful enough to crush ice. Love it! Toaster, slow cooker and microwave have their uses. Only gadget in my kitchen that I wish I'd never bought is my icecream maker because I don't use it.

I was just looking at the kenwood cooking chef machine. Holy cow! I want! It's got everything, including a hot plate! Wish I had had something like that when I was living in halls...

They are costly but I cook & bake & love mine.

I have a Magic Bullet, which is really compact and very powerful. Brill for blending but doesn't make pastry or grate stuff like the larger processors.

Magi bullet - thought tht was something in the Anne Summers catalogue ;-) just got email Asda slow cooker on its way to me yippppeeee.
