Oh dear hun, least you still seeing the other two which is good, hope you got on ok xx

Great news not only have I lost 7kg in 10 days, but they decided to do my pre-op this afternoon after all! Anaesthetist reckons my op could be in 4-6 weeks, will keep fingers crossed but not counting on it being that quick. I am soooo excited!!

Oh wow thats great hun, am so pleased, god thats quick - hope mine like that - bet your so excited, are you going for band or bypass xxx

Bypass I'm too overweight for a band, they reckon it wouldn't be effective enough. Should hear from Mr Ammori's secretary this week they reckon. Hope u hear soon xx

Hi bit of help if possible

:sigh:
Hi
My names emma and i was wondering if anyone had any advice about the trouble im having with trying to get my op, its nrly 18months since i had my 1st appointment at the hospital.

I was reffered to Salford hope in Feb 2011 to Dr L Summers at the weight management dept to discuss weight loss surgery and decided to go ahead with a gastric bypass, she then wrote to my doctor to tell them to go ahead and apply for the funding, and was told due to my weight and glucose intolorance that there would be no problem.
i waited for ages and attended salford hosp again in august to see dr summers who was concerned and chased it up, and also sent me to the diatician, everything was done as it should and was told in dec my funding was on hold waiting for further information from my doctor, got in touch with my doctor who said they had not received a request for further information and had to write to pct to find out and they wrote back saying they wanted a current bmi, so went in and had this sent off and heard nothing since, and i had another appointment with dr summers last month but couldnt go as it turned out to be the day of my grandads funeral, so i let the hospital know and asked them to send me a new appointment, and then i get a letter saying as i have missed an appointment i have been discharged from there care !!!???

i have now had to be re-reffered by my doctor back to salford hospital.

I have only ever seen Dr summers and a dietician at the weight management centre in salford royal and just wondering what the rest of the process is, some people have said they have to attend a psychiatrist for 6 months is this true?
surely i could of been doing that while waiting for 18 months :(

i just worried that its never going to happen and would go private right now if i could.

Hi hun, sorry your having a bit of a bad time. My doctor referred me for weight loss surgery as advice from my diabetes consultant, she applied end Feb this year and my funding got accepted in April this year, they wrote to my doctor to say they have written to the Salford Royal and for my doctor to write to them, which they did and was seen last week by the psychiatrist and dietician, and surgeon, had pre op bloods but have to have a sleep apnoea test next week then will go to see the aesthetic person and be given my date.

I saw Carly the psychiatrist once, you see here and talk through your life and how you feel about surgery, she was happy for me to have it.

Can you doctor not refer you and apply for funding like mine.

Where do you live, we had to apply to WLGA obesity panel.

Hope this helps.

hi thanks for the reply

HI
im in Preston, Lancashire

yeah I was ref feb 2010 after having blood tests for diabetes and them comeing back abnormal.
and i have only ever seen a doctor twice and a dietician once. i keep being told that i have to wait for the funding to come through from my local pct, so i have looked my local pct up online and am going to give them a call myself tomorrow.

when your funding was approved where you informed directly or did the hospital write to you??

so it seems everything starts rolling when the funding is confirmed, its been a yr and a half now :/

I didn't get referred to the Salford team until I had my funding, but one I was referred to the my appointments came through pretty quickly, just waiting for appointment for the op now

My doctor got the letter to say my funding had been approved.

Has your doctor filled out all the forms for your funding?

Reading back hun, sounds like its your doctor thats the problem in this, funding also is applied from April to april so get in quick before it runs out.
