-Have a sleeve with the local provider and get into lots of debt (6k+), but have local backup if required

-Have a sleeve abroad with a surgeon who has performed 250+ sleeves, and owe no money

-Continue to save until you can pay local provider outright, but it may take years??

no chance with the nhs?

What's the difference in price?! I'm guessing you've enough saved for the overseas option, so you could just top up with a smaller loan for the difference to have it done here?

Sleeve here with local provider; £10500 :)eek::eek:) I know i can get it cheaper elsewhere in this country, but it would be a long way away, i may as well be abroad!

Sleeve in the Czech Republic; £4000 (!!!) Hopefully i will have the 4k by the summer!

Bloomin heck that's one hell of a difference!!! But if it was me and being miss impatient that I am, I'd go abroad now using the cash I'd saved and a small loan to save waiting until summer :)

whatever you decide to do honey i wish you all the luck in the world xxx

I'm having the wrap by Cosmetic bliss in the Czech Rep, I've taken a personal loan...If you are going abroad then you need to research your provider, I even went on youtube to investigate and have heard nothng but positive reports about them :)

Hi, good luck with the wrap, i looked at Cosmetic bliss, but there are cheaper in the Czech Rep. The wrap looks really interesting, but i dont think its for me.

I know price isnt everything, but its a lot when you have none, lol

I have been in touch with people who have had the procedure with this provider :)

Yes - I did see some that were cheaper... I wanted more than just the operation, which I am not sure that you get from other companies BUT like most 'elective' surgery its what other ppl can tell you thats most important as thats where the real opinions are. Mine was financially driven, my BFF paid 7.5k for a band here and it took 6 months for her to get into established weightloss, its all a matter of personal choice and one of the probs that you have with surgery abroad is all the horror stories you get told, however there are prob just as many in the UK that you never hear of....???? Best of luck with whatever you choose xx

I would have it done asap and i would go abroad to save over 6k. Maybe take a friend to stay with you for a few days there. I had a bypass and my recovery was fast, I don't know of anyone who couldn't have traveled in few days.
And after you will also need money for new clothes,, that's an expense you will also have to factor in.
Whatever you decide, I wish you luck. xx

I didn't realise the sleeve was so expensive!! Mmm... maybe I will revise my answer from option A to C as otherwise that's a lot of potential debt to get into :(

Thank you to everyone who has replied and voted, the majority say go local and get into debt. I am having a telephone consultation on Wed with the local provider, i'll know more by then.

Thanks again:D:D

If it's a sleeve I vote ......... Abroad :) no dept. If it had of been a band my vote would of been here due to fills and complications. But as long as they are a good company with great reviews why not save your self a few grand :) x

I think your "local provider" charges too much for the sleeve !!! The figure you quoted on the other page was about £10,500 which is more than my "local provider" charges for the full bypass !!!

My answer would be to stay within the UK but slightly less in debt if you could find a good UK surgeon offering the sleeve for around £7,000.

However .... I realise that the convenience of going local and being able to go for any check-ups must be appealing .... but is it really worth an extra three grand ???

I wonder what kind of "profit margin" your local provider is scraping off the top, being that their quote/charge of £10,500 for a sleeve is at least £3K more than most other UK providers -- what a swizz !!!!!! :(

You seem to be living in the worst area, Becky -- don't qualify on the NHS under your PCT's rules and then they go and charge an extortionate amount when you are forced to go private !!!
