Hi All,

I'm new to this forum but have been reading all your threads with great interest.
I'm due for sleeve surgery on friday in London. I judt wanted to know how you felt after surgery and how long it took to start losing the weight?

Hi Mandeep,

I am a pre-opper so cannot answer your question ... but are you Mandeep from the Whittington Support Group?

Possibly not, perhaps there is more than one WLS Mandeep!

It would help if you can edit your User CP details at some time to include a bit more info about your hospital and surgery etc.

Best wishes,
Sharon

Hello, it happens pretty quickly. It does take time for the swelling to go down, obviously you retain a fair bit of fluid due to your body going in to panick mode. It could be that in the 1st few weeks you feel and are heavier. Then as if by magic the weight starts to float away, generally about 1/2 a stone a month depending on how much you have to lose.

xx.

I was sleeved six weeks ago. I felt pretty good after surgery, except for wind pain etc. A couple of weeks down the line I felt crap. But then it started to get better. I lost weight VERY fast in the first couple of weeks, like a pound a day sometimes, it was scary actually. Now it's slowed down considerably, even stalled a little, freaked me, but I went to the hospital support group and got a lot of positive vibes and how this is for life, not a quick fix diet, so I will stop being so impatient and hide the scales!

Of course it depends on how much you have to lose, your age, and general health and activity levels. Ironically, as my surgeon pointed out, my weight loss slowed at the exact time I resumed workouts, as I was building muscle.
