The end of liquids is neigh..... 5 weeks pre and 2 weeks post of liquids and softs start on Tuesday. I'm petrified of eating again!!!!

Any advice from bandit pros please xxx

I'm just about to go into my second week of mushies, and after so many weeks of liquids it's been an utter joy!
I've had plenty of fish, fish pie, poached smoked haddock on mashed cauliflower, broccoli mashed with light soft cheese and pesto topped with poached salmon flakes... Just yummy!

Yesterday I tried tinned minced beef in gravy. I had to chew the heck out of it, it took so long to eat I barely finished quarter of the (small) tin with mashed potatoes within my 20 minutes. I have been absolutely rigid on stopping eating after 20 minutes, I've not been left hungry at all and I've always had a lot of leftovers that I take to work for lunch the following day.

Thus far I've had no issues. Follow the rules, chew chew chew and you'll be fine! x

No problem. I remembered another meal I had last week, Bombay potato. Yum yum yum, it was the tastiest thing ever:) x

Stoppit Sarah my mouth is watering!!! Got another two weeks to go and have planned to have cauliflower in a light cheese sauce as my first real food. The Bombay potatoes sound yummy. :)
Maz I so get the scared to eat bit though. I'm allowed thin soups so a least I'm getting the savoury in there even though it is getting boring. Out for coffee at the weekend with MIL and hubby they had their usual cream tea while I just sat with my latte because I was too scared to try the courgette and tomato soup that was there just in case it made me unwell/dump :(. At home I would have ate it no problem but because I was out I just didn't want to risk it... How do new bypassers get over that fear?

Trial and error unfortunately. The more you try successfully the more comfortable you will become. If you read my diary I was also very nervous going to more solid foods. 4 weeks is a long time on liquids! It might be worth asking your team of you can start to thicken th texture. As you get further out you will learn what suits you and what doesn't but don't be in a rush to get there :)

Thanks Yve I was intending to do just that today as I am beginning to feel light headed in under 2hours after meals. It's a feeling I would get regularly in the "bad days" when I hadn't eaten all day. So am wondering if its a fall in blood sugars. I'm not diabetic by the way. I am drinking constant but that has no effect on it at all.

It could well be or it could just be you're leaving it too long between meals.

'How do new bypassers get over that fear?'

hi frankie i was in M&S cafe the other day and had about a tablespoon of tomato basil soup and even tried a little bit of a jacket potato mashed up with some very smooth tuna. was delicious and i felt so normal to be out for lunch with my children. i did make sure i had a discreet plastic bag in my handbag incase there was a problem.

that does sound like what i used to get when i had
a low sugar episode. ive been diabetic for a few years, its pretty much gone now but do still get the odd low blood sugar downer. if it happens to me i just have some apple juice which always seems to fix it.
