I was just wondering if you were all able to have spicy food after the op, ie :chilli powder, curry powder, black pepper ?
Im not sure if the new pouch will tolerate it ? i love spicy food and thought it could liven up some of the after op dinners .

well ive had curry and chilli, although they werent that hot, but thats cos i dont like em too hot. and ive been fine, although i didnt have them till about 3+ months after surgery. hugs x

I have no problem with spices and since my op I've eaten Moroccan, Thai, Indian, Mexican and Chinese ! But we're all different so just take it easy and be aware that what might go down well one day might not the next

ok thanks Dawny and Rose, im really pleased as i love love love it spicy !!!
Ill probably take it easy to start with as you are
Thanks

My dietician told me specifically to avoid spices completely for the first 2 weeks. After that it's fine to experiment. I've just had a mild chilli, no problems. It was lush!

Deeby,
I had one popadom, then me and my friend ordered a dish between us. Can't remember what it was called but it was chicken, tomatoes, potatoes and mushrooms in a medium spiced sauce. I had a spoonful of my friends rice and about a third of the chicken dish and it was bloody lovely. x

thanks Charis and scooby , im really pleased i thought that i would prob have to live on chicked, fish and vegetables lol its very encouraging to see life doesnt go on hold after the bypass
Thanks again

I had a chicken tikka masala (home made - well if you can call it homemade when you use a 'lighter choice' ready made sauce lol) about 4 weeks post op.... I've since had a dry chicken tikka start away from the local takeaway and we thoroughly enjoyed a visit to Nando's about 6 weeks ago....

Take my word for it, you can still thoroughly enjoy food as much post op as pre op, just a darn sight less of it. And.... your mouth feels great with all those spices bouncing around your buds :) :) xx

I'm having a take-away curry with friends tonight....well my hubby is and I shall pinch some off his plate! LOL....:D I think it'll be lamb rogan josh as that's his fave!

I can eat curries etc - don't like food too spicy but can get them down

UNFORTUNATELY

I don't like the effects the next day - whenever I have spicy food I have a really sore tial end the next day - think its the maladsortption aspect of the op

:( :( :(

Im so glad your all enjoying your spicy foods, im also glad to here that you can use seasonings like curry powder and pepper and stuff after a few weeks of surgery. Im mixed race and cook with a lot of spices on a daily basis so im delighted to here this. x

I love spicy food and never cook without some sort of spice in there somewhere. I do sometimes use it to get me going if I'm a touch constipated and I find shop bought curry has that effect more than home made. I'm addicted to wasabi paste at the moment!

I had some puree'd chicken tikka that I'd made in the slow cooker 5 days after my op... I love strong flavours & made a fab 3 bean spicy soup. x
