Does anyone know if its safe to take st johns wort or something similar after bypass, I'm feeling down and so very tired and I dont know if my depression is creeping back

You need to speak to a dr or pharmacist or your team. Your GP will be able to work out if you are depressed or not and get you the help you need. Proper antidepressants would be much better. St John's wart shouldnt be taken without consulting a dr first as there are a lot of meds that it interacts with and so on. Hope you feel better soon. Im really suffering with my depression at the moment and am in the process of changing meds.

Thanks Zns, got the hospital next week for full blood tests so hoping I'm just lacking something rather then the depression creeping back

Hey just wanted to say Hi and offer my wee bit of advice...Hiiiii :)

I was told that I shouldn't take St John's wort as I suffer from Seasonal Adjustment Disorder as well as clinical depression and it actually makes the SAD worse.
This time of year I up my citalopram dose to 20mg a day and use a SAD light and get reiki once a month - works a treat :) This is my second winter using this treatment combo and I feel positively FABULOUS!!!
Low days I do jigsaws in front of the light ...occupies my brain and cheers me up ...
Hope the Doc can help you out xxx
