Summertime :)

I just looked at the weather forecast and it seems we may well have a decent Summer...and this leads me to how much i've changed...let me explain.

A few years back as a family,we took a week away down in Walton-on-the-Naze. It was in August and the weather was truly appalling...It rained for 3 days solid. We spent the days in the Caravan and was incredibly boring....BUT i was pleased because i knew that i wouldn't have to go to the Beach..even though my kids were desperate to go...and the time we did go to the Beach i got totally humiliated by some teenagers calling me all the names under the sun in front of my family.

Now i'm a year post op and have lost 9st 3lb and counting,Summer has taken a different meaning:). I'm wearing shorts and not Joggers so i'm not steaming hot. I Still wear baggy-ish tops but they are 3xl baggy, and not 6xl baggy  and NOT getting abused by the ignorant assholes of Society that i'm sure we've all encountered from time to time.

Life is good living with my Bypass..Long may it continue.
Just thought i'd share..Hope you're well

Andy xx

Well done Andy!! This is the first year in ages where I don't feel as if the heat is killing me, I have had to have a cardy on despite the heat I still feel cold, although I am being brave and pushing up the sleeves!!!
I am a changed person as well, so I know how you feel

I can relate SO much to what you are saying. Although I'm only half way through my weight loss (5 down, 5 to go) I have found the stroll in to town so much more comfortable than EVER before. In fact yesterday I commented to somebody in a coffee shop that it didn't seem to be as hot as they had been forecasting and she looked at me as if I'd lost my marbles!

A few years back I was living in Margate and we were on the beach near a sea-lido place. (For those that know the area, not the one by the main beach but the HUGE one in Cliftonville near the doctors surgery which is built on the coach park that was in the Only Fools & Horses episode set in Margate). I was at my largest (and smoking at the time).

A crowd of youths laughed at me and told me they bet I couldn't swim to the far end and back. It HAD to be done. Despite the cross current and the tide coming in I did it. Most shut up but another one, to save face, said he reckoned I couldn't do it again. No little oik beats me - so I did. Flaming knackered by the end but I did it !!

Now, Walton on the Naze, I have a few stories to do with their but I've hogged your thread enough!!

Andy, you mentioned 'kids'. Does that mean we get another proud dad/pretty daughter photo? (I only have one son but I'm sure he'll look just as pretty at his :-D )

Well done on your weight loss Andy. I'm looking forward to what next summer time brings. I know we shouldn't wish our lives away but I don't think there's ever been a summer where I haven't been over dressed in big black clothes sweating like mad. I too am going to embrace my bypass life.

That's good news Andy and just what I want to hear. I am finding this summer unbearable so I'm really please to hear that it will get better. I am so looking forward to no longer having a sweaty face xx

Fantastic Andy.
Okay I am still M Obese but I have noticed such a difference with my 8st loss. I am usually unbearable in this heat but this year I don't think I have sweated a drop! Love it love it love it!

Well done Andy, and I so relate to this! It was the holiday I took with my son to Italy last year that really was the final straw for me. Almost dying out of breath as we climbed to the top level of the Colosseum and then when we were by the lake, experiencing the ignorant and rude comments of a German family by the pool. I came back, booked my consultation and so far the 9+ stone is history - but you're right, it changes so much about how we are.

I love the fact that I do not get stared at anymore, or that people won't comment on that fat bird down the street. I'm still aware that even though I'm now 9 dress sizes smaller that I still have a way to go, but, it is amazing how different things can be, and I am looking forward to my holiday next month with my son, where I wont feel so self conscious about getting into the pool or the sea!

Its a different way of life. Living. Something that we didn't do before!

Go you! :)

Well done, I know exactly what you mean.

I had a bikini on in January (somewhere hot, not here obviously) and went out in public with it.

Blooming marvellous when it happens :D

very true Andy, I am cracking my legs out for the first time in years!
