The gallstone pain - off to the docs

I went to my doctors a fortnight ago complaining of back pains i thought it may have been my kidneys and i had my scan last Thurs and it was confirmed as gallstones so again depending on what area we are from depends on how quick you get the scan has i said i had mine in a week.

Or it may have been because they suspected it might be your kidneys?

I saw my team today & asked about some twinges I've been having & have to go see my GP & have a scan as they think I've got gallstones too.....

Is it catching?? ;)

It's common with rapid weight loss hun.

A friend of mine had them many years ago. She lost 8 stone with weight watchers.

Funny isn't it... I lost 7 stone in 4 months on a vlcd 4 yrs ago & never suffered from them but this time?? Maybe they've been hiding waiting for me to loose weight 'again' to come out to play!

Ha ha Linzi. Or maybe we just still want to do things together :D.

I said the same to my sis in-law - we even share the same birthday lol.

Thanks Jacci but I'm working on having to wait at least a few months, then if it's sooner it will be a bonus.

The doc gave me some uber pain killers today for the next attack.

Actually Jacci, it was when I gave the doc a history of my food problems that he decided to write to Mr Ammori and ask him to see me sooner. I reckon he's barking up the wrong tree myself - I think it is just the gallstones.

Do you know, the doc didn't even realise that getting food stuck is common for bypassers

Unfortunately that doesn't surprise me. My GP has not been supportive in the slightest. Last time I saw him I actually told him that if one of my son's had been as petulant as he was being I'd slap his face.

Didn't go down too well ;)

I had visions of being kicked out of the surgery but I've not, up to now anyway!! Ha, ha

I know at SRH the waiting list is longer than a few months. When I was admitted earlier this year with a suspected ovarian cyst I was admitted to the bariatric ward as they first thought it was my appendix. Anyway, a young had been admitted for the third time with gallstones & told me she was having a gall bladder our in September after being on the waiting list for a year!!

So I'm hoping that I'm not going to need mine out.

PMSL....I would have loved to see the look on his face when you said that!! hahahaha!! XX

Hahaha Jacci... xxx

Well the doc said he would chase up the scan request, phoned whilst I was there, and they haven't received a request  So they have now.

He did a thorough examination and asked lots of questions and he seems to think it might be more than my gallstones in that it can take just a cup of tea to set it off. But reading your replies that seems quite common. Anyway, he is also going to write to Mr Ammori to ask him to review me very soon.

As for my periods (I also went to the docs because I've had a continuous period since the week before the op - so 13 weeks) he has referred me to gynae assessment and in the meantime I have to have the myrena checked - possibly removed. So at some point I will have to think about some other source of protection.

So that was my doctors appointment. Glad I went now considering it brought up the fact that the hospital hadn't been contacted yet re my scan
Hi Karen, sorry to hear that you are having problems. Hope it gets sorted soon and you feel a lot better.
By the way, I think you realise that my post yesterday was certainly not directed at you at all, just crossed wires.
Take care - Paul xx
