i thought the 18 week rule started once you got your funding?????

There are a couple if different 18 week time periods
- first is maximum 18 weeks from referral by GP to seeing specialist.
- second is from being put on the surgical waiting list until having surgery.

There is more chance of the first one being met as other patients can be bumped from clinic appointments to make way for new referrals, the second is more difficult to meet as theatre time is finite and where you might see 20 people in a clinic session there are unlikely to be more than 2-3 patients on a full day operating list.

my pre op was originally scheduled for 5th jan and was told op would be within 5 or 6 weeks of that date. then had a call on 22nd dec, went in same day for preop and having surgery tomorrow! it won't be long for you now, good luck x

My pre op was done the Thursday before my op which was the Tuesday. They don't do the pre op till the week before your op at QA.
