The Sweats

Big an Bouncy

New Member
Just had three small thin slices of pork with gravy and one small potato, put my plate down and the unbearable sweats came over me.Its happening every time I eat, no matter what I eat its always the same. Its fat free, chewed well and slowly.Im seeing my nutritionist at the hospital friday so will ask her then.It doesnt last long but its very intense!Anyone else have them?

That is awful, I hope you get it sorted out soon. I had my very first experience of the dreaded sweats today and only a week out from my op. I had a cup-a-soup (chicken) cooled with some skimmed milk and was enjoying it so much I just drank it all and paid the price big time

It is definitely NOT nice.

I get this sometime but when it strikes I get very dizzy and disorientated as well just as if I've downed a bottle of vodka and have to go lay down until it passes, luckily it's mostly happened at home. Can't pin it down to any particular food either. Be interesting to see what you find out.

I think its something to do with having a short bypass so that food passes into the intestine a lot quicker and your insulin level soars.I will check on Friday and report back!Maz x

That sometimes happens to me if I haven't chewed the meat thoroughly enough Maz.
Let us know what your team say.

This happens to me too almost everytme i eat... There doesnt seem to be a pattern... Looking forward to what u find out keep us posted :)

The doc said it was just my bodys way of saying its full!I dont dump and he said only about 50% do!

I get the "sweats" after eating too. If I eat very small amounts , but more often, it seems to happen less though.

I have been "in the wilderness" for a looooong time regarding my bypass - lost the faith totally. But reading about your problem has been another little light-bulb moment for me. This will be another part of the toolkit I have been given and have not used to my advantage. :(

I have "dumped" quite a few times, but never put my finger on what caused it.

But I am going to try and use these "mini-dumps" to help me move forward :)

Thanks for posting :)
