things i might need?

Great lists, I'll remeber that for my op, Karen x

Ha ha - you asked the question - here is a list I complied from suggestions I recieved - not all items were used though

· Ear plugs
· Fan for your room
· Diet squash
• Lots of changes of PJs (felt really good to have clean on every day)
• Ask someone to take your water spray bottle and lip balm to ICU
• Bottom wiper - was a must for me, could wipe my own bottie pre-op, but after op there was no way I could twist and turn sufficiently to do a decent job of it
• Baby wipes for bottie – using paper constantly can leave things a little raw
• Mouthwash – mouth feels pretty stale a lot when you nil by mouth or restricted fluids, was nice to rinse out regularly
• Deo body wipes – was good to have a wipe down through the day.
• Take your own pillow - the hospital ones are like rock
• Reacher/grabber - I dropped so much stuff on the floor it was untrue and just couldn't bend enough to pick it up
• a miniature water spray bottle from and filled it with water – to freshen mouth
• Notebook & pens – for writing questions & notes
• Loose clothing – especially at the wrist
• Slippers
• Notebook of telephones numbers of friends & family
• Cardigan/jumper – to keep warm
• Sleep mask – to block out light
· Walkman/Discman &CDs
· Dvd player
· • Hairbrush & headband/ruffles
• Toothbrush & toothpaste & ‘Oral B Brush Always Disposable Teeth Wipes’
• Novels/magazines/puzzle books
• Tic Tac mints
• Batteries – for Walkman/Discman
• Facial cleansing wipes
• Bonjela – may have a slightly sore mouth after operation
• Warm dressing gown, with good coverage – in case you end up in a mixed ward
· Mobile phone and charger
· Aquadrops
· Lip balm
· Address book
· Camera
• Sanitary towels NOT tampons
• Strepsils/throat lozenges - something to suck!!
• Own hand towel
• dettol soap : to clean before hand
• cash : £3.50 a day for TV
• plastic bag : to carry drain bottle around in/doubles for wipes
• fruit tea bags : as the tea is dreadful ask for hot water and add lemon/ginger tea bag
• olbas oil/ peppermint oil + eucalyptus oil : sprinkle on pillow helps a fresh sleep
• Nighties : pj's can rest on wound
• Sports bottle for easy drinking without spillage whilst laying back.
• Loose clothing for coming home in
