i dont think bypassers can absorb b12 when taken orally kelly, thats why we have the jabs. i could be wrong, but im sure ive seen it on here somewhere. hugs x

I drink marmite. One cup every night (a teaspoon in hot water) yummy! x

kelly, how many carbs are in it, coud you check on your jar, cos even if i cant absorb all the goodbits, i could just enjoy it occasionally, i really cant think of what the carbs, protein, etc could be in it. thanks in advance chuck, hugs x

hiya zns, even though your on forceval, your still supposed to have vit B12 injections, cos we cant absorb it through food. as far as im aware all the bypassers on here have them. i would check with your dietician or surgeon. good luck with the op hun. hugs x

I often put a teaspoon in gravies/stews/casseroles etc to give the sauce a bit of extra richness....oooooooo, I love Marmite!:D

I like adding Marmite to a cheesy baked potato... delish !

I used to love Marmite pre-op but find the taste just a bit too intense now. I'm probably more used to the blander tastes now.

I'm nearly 11 months post-op and have never had a b12 injection and all my bloods have always come back normal. So, it is wrong to say that ALL bypass post-oppers need the injections. I've never needed any iron supplements either, but do take a Sanatogen A-Z and Calcichew every day.
