Post Opper
Ugh - it has made me feel awful - dont touch it :sick::sick:

at least i would be sick if i could - it is stuck - oh dear

Is it not to early to be eating toast ??? have you not got to do the 6 week re feed diet ?? ie liquids, sloppys, mashed, soft ect ???

it is too early - i am week 4 now - supposed to be able to have solid mush if that makes sense - i didnt have hardly anything today - and :break_diet: - have been ok with some stuff and very silly i was to think i could have toast - i love bread - and ugh well i wont be doing it again in a hurry i can tell you - i am so daft really ugh oh well a new lesson learned x

from week 5 i can start eating normal foods - so i guess i jumped the gun - doh!!
Hi Doughie, I understood it was from week 7 that you could try toast. Also, if its stuck it sounds like you ate it too quick. Take it easy now and follow the instructions :)

All providers have different rules with regard to the weaning process...

Personally i could tolerate a bit of toast at Doughie's stage, but i have friends who are 2 yrs out who can't take it.

What i would say Doughie is this, it's a carb and the longer you leave eating carbs again the better. But, if you want something to crunch on wait a few weeks then nip into one of the supermarkets and in the biscuit/cracker section they have 'melba toast' looks like little cute slices of bread but its crunchy and very bypass friendly. At least you feel normal with that, pop a bit of soft cheese on one of them and enjoy xxx

Thanks for the melba toast tip I'll be looking for that next time I shop.

Hello all just a question after reading about Melba toast and soft cheese. But what do you class as soft cheese as even though not eating I can't find any cheese under or around the 5g of fat and 5g sugar per 100g what I could try to eat. Thanks

I too get thick bread stuck so have thin/medium small sliced bread well toasted and let it go coldish,it goes down ok cos its crunchy.

The problem is i dont have any instructions - not like the nhs peeps do - its difficult for me to know what to have, but i know i wont be having toast for a while x

I am 5 months out now and still can not tolerate bread, including toast :( but I can eat crispbreads, melba toast and at a push ryvita. I layer them with extra light philadelphia or low sugar peanut butter YUMMY!!! :eating:

melba toast with low fat cottage cheese , it just crunches away in the mouth and only take nibbles :)

Sorry to be dense, but what do you mean you didn't have instructions?

Are you saying your provider who you paid with your hard earned cash never told you the 3 stages you need to follow post operatively? If this is the case you need to make a serious complaint, cos if you were buying a gadget and it had no instructions you'd return it.

As a general rule of thumb my provider says 4 weeks on fluids (soups, yoghurts - strained with no bits, milk etc) and then 4 weeks of puree (basically meals blended like baby food) and then start slowly introducing more solid food. In all honesty at your 3 week stage you could be doing puree, try a bit of potato with grated cheese mashed in, a bit of weetabix or ready brek, but you will only need a couple of tea spoons.... And remember the fluids too

Hope this helps xx

Ryveta crackerbreads are lush hun, you can have them on the soft food stage.... you had you op after me... and its defo too soon for toast xx sorry i know everyone else has told you off already xx

i got a sheet of paper, saying week 1 and 2 liquids only - with a list showing how to have liquids every hour
week 3 and 4 - sloppy purees (weetabix, fromage frai etc sloppy mash and gravey) eat with a spoon

towards end of week 4 start thickening them up use a fork ( i am on week 4 now)

week 5 6 and later start eating normal foods. (week 5 starts on 27th December)

thats my instructions give or take - i can call them any time, but dont feel like i should - i dont know why - too independent maybe, Twinkle was kind enough to email me her list - my surgeon and dietition dont give out diets, but i am due to see them on the 31st so am going to have a list of questions then the way i feel at the moment i may have to call them as i just feel very sick at the thought of any type of food or drink

x

My dietician said that you can have up to 20g of fat per 100g and up to 10g of sugar per 100g.

Hi Kate.

Now that's interesting that is how different dieticians vary in what they recommend. Well when and if I start eating again I will try looking for foods at that level thank you.
