True Confessions of A Punk Rock Mama

My name is Sarah and I am two months post-op (August 9th 2012) I started my journey at a staggering 400lbs (I am 5'7")
My smallest adult weight was around 250lbs so I have always been a bigger girl, but I wore it well and was very active, then in 2009 I was in a terrible car accident that saw me immobilized for 6months. In this time I also became diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Less than a year after the accident I also became pregnant. The father left me and I was forced to leave the province and ended up in a dingy basement apartment, once my daughter was born I was moved into subsidized housing which was a blessing an a curse all on one, in the months that followed my condition got worse and the medication I was given in combination led to me ballooning to a staggering 400lbs
It was at this point (2010) that I spoke to my doctor about wls. It took two years to be approved (was put on hold for almost a year as I had a seizure due to medication) I was highly motivated and in much better place in my life by this point, I had met a wonderful man who not only accepted me at my bigger but also accepted my daughter and began caring for her as his own. I was able to lose 20lbs by changing my eating habits and walking a few minutes a day, I lost another 20lbs on the three week Optifast liquid diet before surgery and in the two months since my surgery I have lost another 55lbs! My daughter (who is only 2.5) tells me everyday that I am pretty and fun and I totally agree! My energy is slowly returning and of course my whole family is benefiting from my new eating/cooking/ shopping skills!
This surgery saved my life and has changed the lives of everyone around me for the better, I couldn't be happier and an loving every single day more and more!

Aaaawwww well done Hun, it's a fantastic feeling knowing you're on your way to a new life. Wishing you all, all the best or the future. Xxx
