She's given me fluroxetine (or something like that) this time. I'm not new to anti-depressants as I've been taking them for approx. 15 years. on & off
But after the last time I said never again. I am a very strong person & I'm ashamed to say I thought people who had panic attacks were weak. I know you'll all shout at me but that was my experience. We had one girl on our team who would regularly have one for attention. Until I got fed up with it & give her a bit counselling in Dr Jacci style. She's not had one since.
But the ones I had were so severe that I couldn't breathe & would shake uncontrollably. I also had a real fear that something bad was going to happen.
It's not a sign of weakness and I strongly feel that stress and life pressures are 'cumulative' and after a career of working in mental health... we are all vulnerable at times....
The strength is reaching out and doing something which you have done and also trying to sort your life for the better.
Hope the fluoxetine (prozac) is effective, take it as prescribed, it can take the edge off the anxiety and help... they normally start you off on 20mg and build up to 60mg if required, don't just stop taking it without going through things with your doc and it can take up to a month to work...
Glad your doc is listening and glad you have been to see him...
