Whats this about injections?

I had to inject for 10 days , Clexane injections. Im scared of needles but it wasnt that bad as needles are very very fine

It's gonna be 10 days for me too, I'm not scared of needles but I don't think I could stick one in me...so my oldest daughter says she'll do it, hubby is far too scared of needles to do it for me!
Em xxx

I hated the thought of needles too, but it was fine. They are pre- loaded and really fine.

The needles are much better than blood clots, you will have been through major surgery.

You will have the injections twice daily in hospital so will be used to the procedure - they also show you how to do it before discharge and in my case that also included showing my partner because he knew I didn't like the thought of it and wanted to help out.

Not saying I ENJOYED it, but it was quick, easy and for my recovery. Luckily you will have a few well padded bits to cushion the effects.

Hi - depends what op you are having. I had a gastric band and had anticoagulant injection before surgery and one the following day before I was discharged. I know for the band some surgeons will ask patients to inject at home too, my surgeon doesn't. Tracey

Try not too stress to much about them, I found them very very easy too do and I'm a big chicken xxx

I've just been banded and have to have the injections for 7 days after op. Luckily my husband volunteered to give them to me.

Sent from my HTC One X using WLSurgery

I was sleeved 5 1/2 weeks ago, and was only given injections whilst in hospital. None at all at home, and none I had to do myself. After I had my 2 sons by c-section, I had to self inject for 6 weeks, but not this time.

Nothing was said to me so I don't know if I have them or not. I was just shocked when I read someone's post!!

I had to inject for a month post-op, needles are so fine you dont really feel them, I injected myself and had no problems at all, good luck xx

I had Clexane 7 days post op. I have never injected myself with needles before but it was very easy because of the way the needles are designed. The needle is so fine you hardly feel it, then you push the top till you hear a click, the needle retracts, all done! Simple...
I don't believe everyone has to do them though, think it depends on which surgeon you have.

I was given fragmin to inject at home for 7 days and although these are a needle it is so fine that it doesn't hurt at all. If you do have to do it, then they will show you how to in hospital, and watch you to make sure you can do it properly. I am a big baby over needles but am finding it okay to do these, so I'm sure you will also xxx

Thanks for that info, doesn't seem as scary now and will see if I have to do them in 10 days........NEARLY THERE!

Some of you may well hate needles...but I am sure you would hate death more!!

On the new Clexane injections you don't even see the needle, they are very easy to do yourself and my save your life. You just remove the cap hold it against your tummy and push the button the needle goes in, delivers the clexane and then retracts into the sheath so you don't even have to see a needle...so come on move on about this fear of needles you lot!! LOL xx

It's not that I hate injections at all, it's just that I didn't know anything about them. It was not mentioned and isn't in the literature anywhere. That may mean that THG don't do them? I was reading a thread and came across someone having them and wanted to find out more, hence starting this thread.

I was not told about the injections but a friend told me & I was terrified. Hate injections but these were so easy. They are automatic & don't hurt if you follow the instructions. My nurse showed me how to do them & then I practiced in hospital & was fine when I went home. You will be fine honest.
