whom to tell?

I know exactly what you are saying and it is a very personal choice who you tell what to.
I am actually the manager at work and like you over the last 12 months staff have commented on my 5 stone weight loss (all in prep for surgery). I lied about my motivation and reasons as I was embarrassed ashamed and all the words you use...especially as I actually work for the NHS and appreciate the scarecity of funds ...
I guess for me though telling one or two close friends and getting a very suportive reaction gave me the confidnece to actually let people at work know and about 5 weeks before my surgery I told my manager and got more positive response that I dont know how I found the confidence to tell my staff the reason for my absence for my pre-op assessment appointment.
I suspect one or two may have made small negative comments but I have to say the support was immense!! I actually wish I had 'come out' sooner.
Anyhow my story doesnt mimic everyone's as I appreciate not all people are as open minded as my team but I guess I'm sharing it with you as the worry I built up in my head was far far bigger than what reality turned out to be.
I had my op on Wednesday and have a 2 week sick note to cover me from today and I have received emails and texts from lots of my work colleagues all wishing me well in my recovery and all wanting to see me back at work when I'm ready!!

HI.....i told everyone and did not care,,,the op has made me a more healthier person and i now know i will live longer..if people have got a problem with that,its there problem not yours....enjoy the new thinner you and yes be proud of it.....i own my own buisness and i even told my customers...i only had one person say somthing to my face and i put then right on all the benifits of the op.......the thing is people are ignorant the the whole facts(and yes everyone said the same to me"OH you had that band thing" NO i would scream) but everyone now says ...will you stop losing weight....you cant win..............
