Hello everybody!!!

Hi guysss!

I was referred to L&D June 2014 - I came in at tier 3 so have to go through multidisciplinary team for between 6 to 12 months first...
At the moment I feel like I'm travelling all the way to Luton to attend monthly 10 minute appointments and being told the same thing over and over again. They keep telling me to continue on the 1500 calorie diet they initially put me on, as I am maintaining my weight, but not actually losing

Has anyone else been through tier 3? What will the next step be? I'm feeling rather anxious now! :sigh:

Eeek 18days til surgery & MDT Claudia ???
Xx

Hi samkisses,
Welcome to the forum, I started L&D tier 3 in June I was on a 6 month programme, have you made it clear to them that you want surgery? as every appointment I went to I was saying I was desperate for surgery etc.
After tier 3 you get referred to tier 4 where you meet a doctor who decides whether everything's ok to go ahead, then MDT appointment which is around 3 hours meeting psychologist dietician & nurse, if the give the go ahead you meet surgeon & anethestist and get a date for surgery, pre op then surgery! When's your next appointment? Good luck x

Hi samkisses,

I'm guessing mines the same as above but I did stop going between April and September so got pushed back but still only took a year! Just be honest I lost a stone in a year and was straight with them everytime.

I know exactly how you feel I come from hertfordshire near North London side I've been there before takes hours journey each way to be there once for 7 mins!! But hang in there!!! You will get what you want and get surgery asap if you keep going I'd say 6 months appointment. Then you see the consultant doctor who says if your a good candidate (he is lovely nicest guy ever!!! And very down to earth). Then it's around 2 months for you to get your MDT appointment and then you go back a few days after that to see the surgeon who will book you in wishing 4-8 weeks. To be fair it's really quick compared to a lot I've seen on here.

Sorry for the huge message stay positive xxx

Ha ha ha did you call them and find out what the mix up was about? Who had it wrong? Lol!

How is your Son doing today any more news xxx

MrShengy!
Thank you so much for your reply!
I hadn't even mentioned surgery since starting the programme to be honest! I thought the fact that my GP mentioned it in the referral was enough lol!
I will do from now on. I have an appointment with the dietician at the end of January. I will be sure to mention it to him. Hopefully it wont fall on deaf ears as I've heard not so great things about this guy, although my experiene with him was OK..
Have you been given your surgery date already then??

Thanks Claudia!

That's definitely given me a little bit of a boost.

Just go every month and play the game tell them you want surgery and your'll get it. lol!

Yes this is a great site to be honest I've only been on here a while and love it xx

Claudia I managed to ring today and I have to go to both appointments as Tuesday is with dietician putting me on milk diet and talking me through the first month of eating or rather drinking after op lol, then Wednesday is with pre op team having bloods and ecg, such a pain going 2 days in a row both at school pick up time, they couldn't change appointments so I had to cancel sons Braces til end of month and arrange for the girls to get picked up by friends from school! Samkisses my op is on 20th January! Can't wait, at every appointment I've pushed for surgery ask at your next appointment tell them your keen to get the ball rolling xx

Oh bloody hell just think they are your last appointments before your surgery!! Your nearly there xxxx

Hi ladies,
Hope your all ok! Went to dietician today to put me on milk diet and explain what to eat etc after surgery & gave me a little bin & warfarin to start day before surgery & anti sickness tablets for morning of surgery. Pre-op tomorrow it's feeling very real now! Lol xx

Just got home from extended New Year Celebrations and found a letter from L&D on the door mat. MDT appointment is 13th Feb. so not enough time to head off to Portugal for a warmer break. At least I know when it is and now know that it won't be too long before IT happens. Must get serious now and lose the extra pounds I have put on. I know I can do it, I have the will power now, something I did not have prior to the Tier 3 programme.

Did anyone else have to have a lung function test? I don't smoke or have any illnesses? No one even mentioned it before so now I'm confused xx

Nope?

On the same day as I have my MDT appointment I have to have an Echocardiogram. I was supposed to have it at my last appointment but they couldn't fit me in. Not heard anything about lung test though.

Posting late as up with a lot of gout pain at the moment.:cry:
