Blues Banding....

Just had a very late breakfast.....One weetabix with some canderell and semi skimmed milk all mashed up.....was lovely...felt it going down, and knew when I had enough and didnt need more.

Mmmm weetabix! I'm allowed one and a half on my pre-op diet, I may have some tomorrow for brekkie! :)

How are you feeling today? Any pain or discomfort? You sound like you're doing amazingly!

Im not doing too bad Lisa...Thanks for asking.

Pain is still there, and discomfort, but manageable with some pain meds. The keyholes are all different, what I mean is...i think the one where the port is - thats the one thats very very tender and hurts...and the one between my boobs is possibly where the band is...and is also very tender. the others have a slight itch to them, which ive been told means they are healing...but they dont feel as tender or painful. (I have 5 keyholes - with the hot glue stuff as dissolveable stitches, under some stuck on dressing plasters)

Ive been walking around more, to shift some burps lol....

Just had a shower, made sure i didnt get the dressings too wet...felt lush to be clean again...not that I was dirty, but I usually shower every day, and it had been 2 days!

Now im in pjs, relaxing on my recliner chair...may have a late lunch soon...possibly some soup that ive made, or I may try the mashed banana and custard again :)

Managed about 6 teaspoons of my soup this evening...couldnt push no more...knew I was full up....may try some again later.

I know the feeling :) Felt so much better since my shower. Managed 2/3s of a ramekin of soup for dinner, but again, knew when I wanted no more. Its so wierd being able to just put it down and not be tempted to go back to it.

Its weird isnt it...the feeling, you know you cant push no more in...yet your not hungry either...so you just sit there and think - 'bloody hell, ive hardly eaten anything?' lol

Yup. I just lose all interest. When it's time to eat food smells good. Soon as I've had enough thats it. Almost... Boredom?

Same as me....I mean the smell of food makes me go mmmm but when its infront of me, one spoon and im like 'im full already'...

Its a good thing though...means we will lose weight lol

Oh! I cannot wait to feel this way! I was enjoying my dinner tonight and then realised I was wolfing it down instead of taking it slowly so I had to force myself to put my knife and fork down between mouthfuls - it was hard though!

It is easier to eat slow especially at first. Because you are so scared of doing harm and you don't know what full feels like etc you do take your time.

Yep Yve, your right again...I was petrified to eat at first....wondering if my band would slip or I would throw up etc...

But its fine, I prefer a teaspoon to eat off, and I savour the food in my mouth then swallow it....and then you realise how easy it is to be full....

I like you, finished the rest of my soup yesterday for dinner...so another 6 teaspoons at night, but then I treated myself to a low fat chocolate mousse but could only do half of it....

I just weighed myself today, and ive lost another 2lbs :)....

My keyhole scars are sore, but its expected....sitting and standing is becoming easier....and I got to lay on my right side in bed last night -woop woop :)

Hi Blue so glad to see you are on the mend, has been really great reading how you are doing since the op as I think this is the time that most of us are really scared of. I am just about to finish my first week of milk diet, like you said first three days were the worst, then it gets easier, I am now cooking for my husband at night and not tempted. I am quite worried about after the op as I am allergic to Morphine so hope they can give me something else strong for the pain, cause I am quite a baby and dont really like to be in pain.
Well done you and hope the weight just drops off now.

Hi Kay

Thanks for the comment.

I had a reaction to the morphine, they ended up giving me 6 different anti-sickness shots....which worked. Im sure if your allergic, they will have an alternative.
Plus its not screaming out kinda pain, its like being kicked and punched with a knife, if you dont breath hard it dont hurt as much...and as long as your in a comfortable position your fine.

I learnt one good bit of advice, from the lovely lady who was in the bed opposite me, who was having a 2nd band done as her other hospital bodged her up....anyways she said to me...SLEEP....everytime you feel sleepy, sleep....the more you sleep, the better the anethestic wears off, and your body heals...and it worked, as I was well groggy when I woke up and I was fading in and out, trying to keep my eyes open.

Ok that makes me feel better. I will be very happy to sleep as I dont get alot of it now, very hectic lifestyle that I lead, cant wait for the two weeks off....

Or just lay down. I felt shocking yesterday by 11, went to lay down and the minute I was horizontal I felt miles better

Yve I think its different for whatever gastric op you go for....as with a band, the more you lay down the more it probes out...so it hurts being horizontal and flat...with me, i find it easier to walk slowly about...or sit up in a recliner chair....when I sleep I have about 4 loads of cushions to raise me.
