Well done :)

Fantastic you are really doing soooo well. My op moved to tomorrow so I am a little bit scared right now.

Wont like to you Kay....from now till the time your getting your anesthesist fill you with drugs...you will go through being scared, being nervous, wanting it over and done with, being excited, and maybe like me, you may cry, have a hissy fit at your partner, calm down and just go with the flow lol :)

Good luck hun, I'll be thinking of you :) x

Hiya

Right, with my booklet from my hospital, I was told certain foods...i think ive put them on here before....ill just copy/paste them below....

So every Tuesday is the beginning of a new week for me, as my pre op diet started on a Tuesday, the surgery was on a Tuesday, so yesterday was the beginning of week three's food....

Im feeling so fantastic....The diaphragm bruising has gone now...I have so much more energy, but have to be careful how I use it as my other illness fibromyalgia reacts when i do too much.....
I can feel the weight loss off my back, im able to walk a bit more...Walked round the block yesterday to my mates house for a cuppa, and i done it at a good pace, no stopping...was a bit outta breath by the time I got there, but I done it :)....
My partners noticing the weight loss more than I am, I can see it in my face. But he keeps grabbing my bum saying its going here, and my hips, here, and then my belly, and here also....then he holds me and says 'but I love you whatever size you are'...awww hes so sweet...

I wont deny - im a bit scared to eat anything sharp yet....like crisps, crackers etc....but thats just psychological i think....You do feel a pain like indigestion when you eat something that needs more chewing etc....

Week 1:
Breakfast
200ml fruit juice
2-4 tbsps puree porridge
or fruit
Snacks
200ml Skimmed milk
1 pot of low calorie yoghurt or
fromage frais
Lunch
soup or sieved thick soups
Evening meal
As lunch or mashed potato with gravy and mashed veg (small portion)

Week 2:
Breakfast
4 tbsps cornflakes & milk
Snacks
soft fruits e.g melon/strawberries
Lunch
1 egg omelette or
1/2 jacket potato (no skin) mashed
with tuna, chese etc
Evening meal
3-4 tbsps minced meat
casserole with 1 tbsp soft mashed potato & veg

Week 3:
Breakfast
1 slice of bread and butter with poached egg
Snacks
fruit such as banana, apple, pear
or low fat rice pudding
Lunch
crackers/crisp breads with soft cheese or pate
Evening meal
minced meat or fish with gravy ot
white sauce with mashed potato and mashed veg

ONLY difference is...i was eating mashed banana and custard in week one, as I was given it at hospital, and I asked the nurse who called the day after I got home, and she said it was fine in week one.

Things ive bought this week to try are:

Small ready made beef casserole with dumpling (kids one)
Philadelphia light dippers (with cracker things)
Tangerines
wafer thin smoked ham, to add into an omelette.

Things ive tried this week have been:

Tropical fruits ready pack all cut into cubes : Pineapple needed a lot more chewing than I realised. Melon wasnt soft enough- so small bites. Blueberrys were easy...Grapes i didnt try as the skin looked tough. Mango was easy. But a bit of an after acidic taste after it all...

I made a Caribbean meal last night for friends, a hot and sweet meal. I done the main dish normally, but left the meat/fish out to cook separately, and i just had the sauce with tomatoes, mixed peppers, onions, courgettes in it...all so soft they melted in ur mouth...I also tried some very soft rice and peas, which filled me up soon, and some sweet potatoes in chilli, garlic and honey....all soft and baked...the plate was what you give a toddler...but i got to try it all....as I knew it was all so soft.

Awwwh Thank you so much,
I'm glad you are feeling so well,
what a nice partner it sounds like you have,
i'm looking for one of them lol :) xx

yum all that sounds so nice,
after 15 days of milk,
i could eat a horse between 2 bread vans lol :)

LOL I know that that hunger feels like.....Your'll love all the soups when your on them...I suggest trying to make your own, but if not, have a feast of all the fresh soups out there in the supermarkets....

Just learnt a LESSON....

  1. Never eat off a big plate of food again.
  2. Never force more in even if your loving it, STOP when you feel full.

I knew this from reading my booklet, and talking to my dietician and nurse...but tut tut, ive just had to eat a leftovers plate of caribbean food, and its given me indegestion, a sense like im gonna heave it all up, and either fall asleep or be to full to move yet...

WONT be doing that again....Oh well you live and learn by your own mistakes dont ya!

Hey Blue! How are you doing? I haven't seen you on here for a few days and i just wanted to check you were ok and all was going well! One more day for me :)

I am not happy.....

Since my surgery ive tried to keep under 1200 calories - was working fine...but the second week I could eat a bit more food, and my appetite came back. And now im on the third week of eating and im hungry a lot....

I cant wait till the band fill on the 22nd May....as I really need it now.

Yes Im still being sensible with my foods, sticking to the guidelines and nothing thats not low calorie....But its the portion sizes....after ive eaten I still feel hungry....

I wish it was like the first week again, when I felt more restricted :(

This is where the willpower needs to kick in ... Stick to making the better food choices, and it will work for you. Most of us banders have been where you are now ... And you can get through it ... Try to concentrate on eating band friendly, dense protein foods first, followed by your veg/fruit and then carbs - don't let it get you down cos that's when the treats and self-sabotage can start creeping in x
