After talking about this on another thread very recently,I cant believe I have got it again for the 3rd time!Seems sometimes it can re occur in the same place.Just read up on it and it can turn nasty, into that flesh eating(No Im not going to spell it!)disease or kill you :eek:Got yet more antibiotics to take.Just had 3 lots in last 2 months, strong doses too. What if I have no resistance now. Will go to a+e if it spreads.

I've had it twice too:sigh: not nice...it was in my lower left leg and was told if it got to my knee or above I would have to be hospitalised:eek:
Thankfully the course of antibiotics sorted it out but I can empathise with your pain x Hope it clears up soon x

My poor mummy gets it, not nice. Make sure you get to a&e if you feel more unwell than usual. My mum has been in hospital on intravenous antibiotics a few times now with it. Hope it gets better soon x

The first time I got cellulitis was on holiday in Crete 14 years ago after a stray cat scratched my leg. Warning - don't be hospitalised in Crete - it is really 3rd world conditions.

I got cellulitis a couple of times after, both times during the summer, but touch wood haven't had it for six years. The three times I caught it was always when my blood sugars were high, so I think diabetes has something to do with it. My mum has had it a few times and had to be hospitalised. It can be very nasty, and those of us who have had it once ought to protect our legs by perhaps wearing leggings or trousers and making sure to avoid cuts etc on limbs.

Sounds nasty. Hope you get better soon. x

hope you get better soon i had never heard about it till my firends 4 year old got it in his foot.

I had celulitis in my lower left leg 3 years ago. Within 24 hours it had spread well past the knee. The infection wouldnt stop spreading even though i was in hospital on very strong IV antibiotics. The hospital even thought of amputation at one point!!! The infection finally spread to my kidneys and i ended with acute renal failure. My celulitis rears its ugly head about every two months. I just get to the docs asap to get antibiotics. Keep your eye on it and if you have any doubt then go to A & E.

I've had it on my legs several times and once on my arm always following insect bites.

It always gets bad enough to warrant hospitalistion on a drip or visits from the district nurses to give antibiotics through a drip at home. Its left some horrible scars on my legs too.

Hope it gets better.

My father in law has had it a few times and so have my 3 brothers in law and my brother, all have ended up in hospital, I think summer is the worst time cos of the insects biting. Not nice my father in law's leg is permanetly red now and has been for the last 5 years.

Thanks for all your best wishes Guys.Went to a+e tuesday evening and was admitted,on iv antibiotics for 3 days.Cos I am allergic to penicillin I have to have clorythamyicin(spelling?)Its like acid going up your veins.Had huge veins sticking out from my arms, hot red patches and my arms go totally sore.Anyhoo home now with oral antibiotics of same stuff plus eye drops.Must see opthmologist on Monday to make sure my eye is ok cos it is very dangerous around the eye,can affect your sight or even blind you!
After seeing one particular lady in the next bed to me,I want to say the problems we have are nothing compared to her life. She looked after her husband when he fell and broke his back, for 30years.He got cancer and died, her son died of pnumonia one week later 35 years old.She stopped eating and started to drink heavily, this resulted in her having a bloodclot on her brain. She was in intensive care for 3 months and is now on a normal ward. She is 60 but looks 90.her family have put up pics of her 4 years ago, blond hi-lighted hair stylish clothes happy and smiling. She can barely communicate now but I know she wouldnt want to live like that,I felt she wanted so much to be with her husband and son.It was so frustrating for her cos they put these boxing gloves on her to prevent her pulling out her feeding tube, she would spend hours getting them off to only scratch her nose when someone would notice and put them back on!I could of cried for her.I spoke to her quite a bit and she beckoned me over turned on her side and gave me a hug and stroked my face as if to say thanks for spending some time talking about everyday things and her hubby and son.Her visitors never mentioned them for fear of upsetting her.I asked would she like to see their photos and she smiled when she saw their faces.Sorry to go on but she has left a mark on me I cant explain.I am not religous but if there is a god I hope he takes her to be with her family, where I feel she wants to be...

So glad you are on the mend. Make sure to take all those anti-biotics and get your eyes checked. This lady sounds so sad, how lucky we are. Take care.
