Does anyone hate their Bypass ???

Sure there are lots of people who regret there bypass early on when there in pain and trying to adjust to there new life, but not heard of many that regret it months down the line x

yes i do hate my bypass AT THE MOMENT, i know my feelin will change when i see the change, but im only a few day op and still in some pain, so right now i wish i never did it but i know soon i wont be, dont mean to sound like a ***** just tryin to be honest with u as that is how i feel right now, but like rybens said many of us do in the first few weeks while were in pain xx

I'm guessing bypass surgery is like childbirth, after a while you forget the pain and just have a beautiful baby to look at :) xxx

I don't hate my bypass at all but the lifestyle change is difficult as is the head hunger.

Julie I like you style:D

I also worry about this and will I beable to adjust to the new life ahead but as others have said once its done its done and I have never heard of anyone say they regret having it done.

I feel exactly the same. No regrets, but its a massive thing we are undertaking and I dont think you can fully anticipate what lies ahead until you are post surgery.

This site is so fab.
I love how people are so willing to share their honest thoughts and troubles and triumphs!

The first couple of months i found were really hard, for example the operation, hospital stay, the pain and head hunger but all these soon go and the weight loss, feel good factor far far out weigh any negatives, now almost 7 months down the line im 7.7 stone lighter, dont have any problems op wise and dont feel deprived of any kind of food the only difference i find is that i can only eat small/normal portions which is great otherwise id be back where i started! life dont get much better than this so embrace your bypass with open arms, trust me it'll be one of the best things you've ever done in your lives.

Hi Karen
How did you get on today with Mr Slater? Did he answer all your questions satisfactorily? Please let us know.
All the best

I DID hate it for the first 2-3 weeks, totally regretted it and wished that I could be put back as I was. 5 weeks post op and I can say that I dont hate or regret it any more.

Just wanted to say it is good to read all your comments, as I am hoping one day to get a bypass, this site is just amazing, and I know that so much support is there xxx

Every negative is replaced by a million more positives. This journey is hard, very hard and you will have huge highs and huge lows, where you will probably regret your choice, but those moments do not last!!!

Keep positive, it is perfectly normal to be nervous about what your about to go through :)

We will all be here if you need anything over the nxt month and beyond to support you all the way

Good luck xxx

I am ten weeks post-op and 50lbs lighter.

Of course we regret it when we have down days, when the wind is unbearable, the small portions of food bloating us and the weakness taking its toll.

Would I do it again?

You bet I would!

U

No. I have regretted it time to time but not for too long but never hated it. Its when I feel tired easy or ,now rarely, eat something my tummy does not like. These moments are forgotten when I catch site of myself in a mirror or when I know I fit...clothes, seats.......

Hi Karen
I`m just a week post op and I can honestly say that I only had a bit of pain but now looking back and was told it must of been wind , I took gripe water and 2 pailkillers and it lifted . I had my 2 kid by c/s and it was a 1000 time worse I was walking around like hunchback of Notre Dame . Last week they took me down the the ward and a nurse came over and asked was I ok and was I in pain , I said no pain and I feel great can I get up and walk around she said leave it for about half an hour and then you can go . I did and it was ok . For the head hunger nothing so far . I can`t understand how good I feel and keep thinking it will come back and kick me in the ass but so far so good hun .
Good luck and take care .

Ive not regretted it from the second I came round from the anesthetic - I have my life back and a figure I thought had gone forever - still got 4 stone to go but its achievable. For me looking good and feeling healthy outweighs any food that I cannot have again - it was an either/or situation for me and I chose surgery. We cannot have it every which way unfortunately.

Like some others I regretted it for the first week post op when I felt so nauseas and weak but since then? Nope, no regrets at all! I'm 4 weeks post op and lovin it! :D

Being honest I am currently regretting having it done. Im 4 weeks post op and have not had an easy time.

The pain for me has been unbearable, it only started to wear of last week then I went and got a chest infection, all the coughing has brought the pain right back.

I was ages coming round from the op and felt very ill for at least a week after.

I've struggled with the liquid diet, Im now on sloppies and that is a bit easier.

Im not losing the weight like others on here either, don't know why ?????????????

I know things will get better and I can then say NO I've never regretted it - fingers crossed.
