Endoscopy !!!!

I had to have one....standard practice in Bristol. It's vile I have to say, they offered me sedation but I opted to have just the spray, had a bad experience previously with endoscopy & sedation , but I'm glad I was awake for it. To be honest they just check to see hernia, condition of insides etc & job done took about 5mins all in all but its not nice. The worst has to be the spray it tastes of fish! Then Bananas & that's 2 of my hates so made it worse for me & you just feel like you're choking because it actually numbs & the tongue feels like it's so swollen...horrid! Good luck if in doubt go for sedation that way you're none the wiser x

I'm having a sleeve at Sunderland and had an endo x

like people have said its quick but horrible so depends if u feel like its worth being sedated for, im defo being sedated but only because i watched my mum have it done and swore id never. lol. but it is quick. xx

I was sedated but remember everything??? It was over so quick & painless for me. God luck.

I was 'sedated' at Sunderland they use throat spray as well I remember and felt everything if the man didn't have hold of my arms I woulda pulled it out lol

I had my endoscopy yesterday at halifax, and it was horrid not as bad as i imagined it but not nicee, i couldnt be sedated as they wont sedate if u have sleep apnea xxxx

Well my poor mum had to have one a few weeks ago, having had one I went along to support her & she was fine. Tomorrow she has to have a colonoscopy. Now that is something I wouldn't like. Poor mum!

colonoscopy isnt that bad, id rather one of them than a endoscopy xx

She's had it & had 2 polyps removed. See my post re dangerous hospital!

Do I get the trumps card by saying I had colonoscopy and endoscopy at the same time? Thankfully I was sedated and didn't know much about it. The consultant was convinced I had bowel cancer, thank fully I was just diagnosed as a coeliac!

OMG poor you. Yeah you win unless someone has had both & a cervical smear! Sorry bad taste but couldn't resist that one!

Letter arrived yesterday for my endoscopy & colonoscopy now thats just unfair. well im going to insist on sedation now! seems they really are being thorough. Got to ring & book my own appointment to fit in with my last preop appointment.

What did you tell them in the questionnaire? lol, I never had either of those

Was bout 5 months but depends on your hospital had 1, 8 weeks prior to this as well, they found some sites of inflammation which i got medication for and then thye wanted to make sure all was calmed down and it was. It'll be fine just part of the journey. xx
