Filling Breakfasts

Oh dear - Im not a bander so Im really not able to say. If I were you, I would stick to what suits you. Sure 1 egg a day isnt going to do you huge amounts of harm. How about cottage cheese on toast?

you could try them mini weetabix Put milk in bowl pop on mini in eat that one then pop another one in carry on till you have had enough lol. You could try stewing some apple that might go down better

What an excellent idea, I never thought of doing that with the weetabix, i'll give that a go in the morning, thanks Tina x

mini weetabix is a fab idea !

Oh Caroline that would be lovely  but im trying to wean myself off toast even tho there's hardly anything to nimble!! Thats why I tried ryvita and philadelphia thinking it would be good but it only fills me for about 2 hours, because I have hardly any restriction im getting hungry sooner than before :sigh: roll on 2nd sept for my next fill

Hi everyone,

I cannot function unless I have a good breakfast in me which usually consists of a poached egg and a slice of nimble

Im really paranoid about putting on weight cos I havn't hit my 'sweet spot' yet!

I had 3 ryvita crackers with philadelphia chive light this morning and im starving, they just dont fill me at all, it was roughly 100 cals for all of this, cereal doesn't fill me much either

I dont want to be having eggs everyday as surely this cant be good for you or is it?

Has anyone any ideas on what would be a good breakfast for me?

Kate x

I would have said eggs were fine unless like mentioned u have cholesterol probs.
I was having poached egg on slice of ham (from a mini joint) or scrambled but cant be asked to faff avout every morning so now i have cereal. as u dont like cereal what about one of the slimfast bars or cant think of the other make thats low fat low cal (yog bars )sort of thing. other than that perhaps make yourself a smoothie with fav fruits?
its hard to make choices or change especially if your not sure from fill to fill if u be able to have it again. also worrying about gain or not losing is hard when you dont have restriction. i can only speak for myself but before my 2nd fill i was soo hungry and thought i was eating loads, but i stuckm at eating protein for meals and snacks and filled myself up and lost 5lbs to boot. good luck with your journey and choices but most of all enjoy yourself. this is forever and who wants to be worrying about food choices - especially healthy ones.

Sometimes us banders have to think outside the box with food, as the foods we can tolerate change with each fill.

I sometimes eat chicken for breakfast, cold or hot. It's a dense food, high in protein and keeps me full till lunchtime. Sometimes I have ham with an egg, both good sources of protein. But my main stay is greek yoghurt mixed with honey, a few nuts and a teaspoon of lemon curd.

If you can tolerate toasted Nimble and you are only having one slice, that's ok. I am allowed bread, but only if it is toasted, it has just been my choice not to, as I have had a few occasions after third fill were it got a bit stuck. I sometimes as a real treat still have half a slice with some butter but really rarely, less than once a month.

Why worry about the label of breakfast foods? Eat what suits you, sod what others think.

If it helps, the recommended consumption of eggs is no more than three a week, so even if you can find alternatives for some of the days it would be a small step in the right direction.

Good luck on your food adventures....;)

I had huge problems knowing what to have and things getting stuck (any bread/crispbreads/cereals) so I am using slimfast shakes for two meals a day at the moment. It's suiting me personally at the moment , I wouldn't try to convince anyone else to do that though, as we're all going to be so different on what works of course. I did enjoy wholemeal toast with laughing cow spread , covered with cherry tomato halves and toasted under the grill though. I haven't had that since the band but it was fairly healthy and really nice if you like tomatoes!!!
One weetabix is really filling , I had a measure of dry cereal (cluster style) to nibble as well but watch the sugar content.

not quite sure if you would want it for breakfast but I had 2 ryvita/crackerbreads with grated cheese on, melted under the grill, they were more filling than the 2 ryvita with a boiled egg shared that I ate yesterday lol.:D

As for eggs being bad for you ? dont think they are, I could be wrong, I was told they help reduce cholestorol. I eat them every day or did till the pre op diet lol and felt fine. My doc said thats prob why I dont have cholestorol, but then again theres hundreds of other reasons why I dont have it too I guess

Eat anything you do like at any time!dont just eat breakfast for breakfast.Chicken, fish, seafood, peanut butter smoothie!Dry cereal, sugarfree baby rusks...heat milk then float one on top, wont go soggy too quick.do same with weetabix.Slimming world quiche nice for anytime.Good luck!

Ur so right Caz, I never would have thought of having ham and boiled egg for breakfast, uuuummm i'll maybe have that tomorrow, have some nice ham in the fridge

I can tolerate toasted nimble fine as long as its small bits and chewed really well

Yeah that would be good to have eggs one day and then something different the next, thanks caz you have given me a few ideas x x

Hi Wannabe. The protein drinks I have are Whey protein and are low carb. I must admit that they are a nice change from cereals or sometimes I make a fruit smoothie. Not sure what I'll be able to have now though as have just had first fill. It's difficult somedays to find something to tickle your taste buds.

Don't know weather this is mentioned earlier on in the thread, but you could maybe move away from "typical breakfast food". When I went on my last holidays to Jamaica I had little tune salad for breakfast near enough every morning. It was sooo refreshing! :)

I know I am a bypasser but I do try to avoid bread as well. Sometimes for breakfast I will have waffer thin sliced chicken, turkey or ham rolled up with slices of my favourite cheese, I squirt a tiny bit of mustard in each roll. I have 2-3 and feel full for hours. I also make crustless quiche 'muffins' for breakfast (just follow your fav crustless quiche recipe and pour into a silicone muffin tin, they freeze great).

im loving the new pic nic xxxx lol i did it again PICNIC:8855:

Hi

Cottage cheese with fresh fruit, smoked salmon (I use the trimmings packs much cheaper), prawns

Thick total yoghurt with fresh fruit. You can make a great salady typre dressing with natural yoghurt that you can stir chicken or ham into. I add mint sauce for a mint flavoured one.

Eggs are not as badly thought of now and one a day is no problem.I use ham as dippers.

Hope you find something you like

M

Caz love your breakfast thats was i eat now in a small ramkin dish can you still have seeds and chopped nuts with the band..............prying you say yes as i love that start to the day.
My son has soup every morning when i go to indian i eat lentil dhal and purree and love it i guess you can eat any foods so long as they contain protein, slow release carbs, and limited fats and sugar.
thanks
Mia

All sounds lovely but I can't do breakfast -never have been able to face it. All the nagging / advising from the dietitian is not going to change that. By late morning normally I was ready for food (having drunk copious amounts of tea) but now I have something lunch-timeish. Surgery has not changed my lifetime habits and nor will it I suspect. I just have no appetite in the mornings and anything I eat makes me sluggish.

i suggested that she dont like it :(
