Gastric sleeve pains

Lol,dont worry those thoughts do gradually go away not saying you wont be tempted but its impossible to each anything in real bulk after the operation.Thats not to say you cant enjoy nice food when you have fully recovered just small amounts of it.Have you started a pre op diet yet?If you have not might be an idea to start cutting back gradually and look at some healthy options would make it easier for you when your asked to go on the pre op diet.

I haven't even seen doctor yet Jason but did have an app but they cancelled it because of the snow . My only concern is my bmi will be classed as 2 low its 35 almost 36 I know its supposed to be over 40 but I do have a fatty liver and disc disease in my back so will have to see what doc says. I am determined this is the year to do something and if get knocked back by nhs will try 4 a loan private. At the mo I am jusp gonna enjoy Christmas then will focus in the new yr. so will you be able to have a small Christmas or is it to early 4 you 2 eat solids ?

Jason, glad you got your pain figured out and are on the mend! I'm only a week post op from bypass and also I'm a nurse, but you know some of these pains and feelings still make me nervous! Hope you heal soon!

Thinking of you Jayson and hoping everything is improving for you... sending love and hugs as always xxx

Hi Bev, been on antibioctics since saturday night but even though it has improved i still cant bend over or lay on my left hand side.Been in contact with the hospital today but there seems to be no one there that can give me any advice im now just going to drink water for the next 24hrs to see if that will help it.Dont fancy being laid up all over Christmas. Thanks for your kind message and your concern. Jason x

what are the big difference between sleeve and bypass please grace if you know

Hi Ruth. I'm no expert but I think basically the sleeve operation is purely restrictive. The stomach is drastically reduced in size, to form a tube and the excess is removed.

With the bypass, the stomach is also drastically reduced in size to form a pouch, but the excess is left in place to drain gastric fluids into the gut. The intestines are also 're-plumbed' so that a degree of mal-absorption combines with the restriction in order to aid weight loss.

In terms of practical issues, Kelly has done a thread on questions about the sleeve which should answer all your questions.

I hope this helps

Grace xxx

Take it easy Jayson, the antibiotics will take a few days to work. But don't hesitate to go back to the hospital if you don't improve. xx
