Getting "Cut Down to Size"

I'm one week shy of being six month post op. Whilst at the library last week, I came across a book called "Cut Down to Size" by Jenny Radcliffe. Wow. This book is so informative! I'm only page 82 and already I feel that I have learned so much about so many aspects of WLS. I can't fault my surgeon for giving me what feels like a new life, but the lack of support, dire nutritional info and confusing and conflicting advice that differs from one hospital to another is unforgivable really.
Even on here when well meaning people say "see your service provider" it really is pot luck where your service provider is based. I do believe that the surgery on the NHS is second to none, but in my experience getting information before and after is poor. I felt it a case of beggars can't be choosers:mad:

Back to the book! The only reason i mentioned this book is that it's definitely worth a read if you are considering wls, having wls or had wls. It has been so useful and answered so many questions that I wish I had the opportunity to ask. Its very thorough but written in a very easy to follow informative manner. I'd of been happy to of been given the book by my bariatric nurse and only turn-up for my op. its been so useful.
My last two outpatient appointments were a joke. They didn't have my records, no access to a dietician and the nurse that saw me asked if I was waiting for my operation - talk about a kick in the teeth as I'd lost over 200lbs . They didn't know what surgery I had, how much I weighed prior to surgery. :sigh:

I hope my experience is not widespread and as I mentioned above the surgery itself, I believe, has saved my life so all is well at the end of the day. I just thought I'd give you all the heads-up about this book as I have found it so enlightening.:)

Hi Will, pleased to hear you doing really well, and pleased you found a book that helps. I felt the same have done most of the finding out myself the hard way trial and error. I am now discharged from the hospital they are satisfied with me I am still 14st 10 but that for me is slim, and thye said I couldnt expect to be much less because of my start weight so I'm done, still have good restriction, so have to keep on the straight and narrow, but fall sometimes still. Lovely to hear from ya take care xxx

I went to a talk at St George's when the author was promoting her book, nice lady and the book is indeed very informative and an easy read.

Hi Chrisa - yes, I'm finding things out by trail and error too. I suppose its the best way as at the end of the day as what works for someone else may not for another. Glad to hear you have been discharged - another successful example of wls and, of course, all the hardwork you put into acheiving your weightloss. You look fantastic Chrisa and you are inspiration.
My weightloss has slowed down to 1 or 2lb a week. Unfortunately I'm becoming hungry again. Not necessarily a bad thing as I'm workingout a lot and not really eating as much as I should as I tend to get more than a little bit obsessive. Ironically, I was more chilledout about weightloss and more realistic about my goals when I was 30st! Now that I only have a few stone to go I'm getting all OCD about diet n exercise and my goal weight keeps getting lighter n lighter. Hope its a faze.
