i just got dropped off at the hospital, no one was allowed to stay with me cos there wasnt room in the surgical waiting suite, but as it happened i went straight down to theatre as soon as i was admitted, so never got to the suite anyway. i was ok, i just wanted to get on with it.

I was dropped off the night before my op at the hospital, left at the main doors all on my own

I know this sounds mean but i feel better knowing i'm not alone with this!! I'm going in on the monday so i can travel by public transport that will take around 4 hours!! Having op on the tuesday, my brother has asked a friend for a lift on the wednesday so he can visit, which has surprised me!! So at least i know i'll be getting one visitor!!
I'll be fine just having a down moment

Em, I'm sending HUGE hugs to you! You are so NOT alone, even though many of your friends are in cyber space!
I only had my hubby to visit me as I was in Sunderland and most of my friends are in Harrogate. To be honest I felt so yuck I wasn't even up to talking to him most of the time, so I was glad other people hadn't bothered to travel to see me. It would've been a waste of time and petrol!

i had a taxi there from Wellingborough to Luton (£45.00). Didn't have any visitors (good job as i was asleep for 2 days).
Hubby picked me up from hospital, and we had to call in at the local takeaway to get his dinner.
Plenty of phone calls, texts and e-mails though.

Hi, you may be alone physically, but we'll all be with you in spirit. Where are you having your op? I notice you have a 4hr journey. I'll be thinking about you and saying a prayer for you on the 21st September.

love and hugs

I had hubby with me when I went to hospital, he daughter and in-laws visited in the evening then no-one till the evening of my op. I did have my phone and lots of texts.

Have been in hospital for another op where I took myself from Somerset to London, had the op, one visit form my brother and mum and then fiance picked me up after a week. Before mobiles so a miserable time.

You will have us all rooting for you though

xxxxx

Oh Em I wish you were having your op near me - I would definately be there for you.

I went in with hubby and he stayed till about 6pm. I wouldn't have liked for him not to be there TBH.

But that said, you don't really feel up to socialising anyway. I kept drifting off and then would wake up and apologise to hubby for being so boring lol.

chin up hun - a couple of days and it will be all over and youl be back in home comforts with your family round you! big hugs! i bet your not up to visitors anyway with the farting all the time hehe xxx

Thanks everyone, you've made me smile :D, do you know i looked back at some old posts the other day & i'm really not a misery.
I am (mostly!) a happy person, i promise one day that i will start a thread with a smile, HONEST!! :p

Hi Em
Damn, I wish I lived nearer cos I would definitely come with you :(
To be honest, I was quite happy chatting to the other wls ladies on the ward with me, and when my OH came in, I couldn't wait for him to go as didn't have much to say to him lol. Also on the first day you will be sleeping a lot. The nurses are good on the ward, and there is a day room with magazines in, and a little garden bit out the back where you can sit if the sun is shining ;)
Also I used my mobile all the time to text and speak to people.
Please make sure you text me loads to tell me how you are doing, and phone me too if you get the chance xxxxxx

Good luck hun x
