Expect the post op blues to kick in over the next couple of weeks. Good foods to start with:
Lump free soups (go for meat, fish or lentil based ones for protein), you can always blend commercial ones. Avoid cream of tomato unless its a weight watchers one due to the high sugar content. Aim for a dip bowl size amount, small sips.
Yoghurt - stay low sugar and smooth, muller light, ski smooth, own brand low fat and smooth, approx 1/2 mullet light size pot.
Actimek/yokult type drinks - low fat versions, brilliant for restoring your bowels balance, and just the right size.
Milky drinks - coffee, hot chocolate, horlicks etc, watch the sugar content, only make a small mug. Add dried skimmed milk powder for extra protein.
For the first week or two you should be aiming for atleast 6 portions of the above per day. It will feel like you are always eating. In between sip squash or water all the time. It's easy to undereat at this stage, but you are healing and with fibro working against you you must push yourself. Set a timer for every 2 hours and eat something every time. You won't feel hungry, but it's tough I'm afraid!
Stick with it, it does get easier.
