Hi,

Im having my band fitted this Sunday and I am on my pre-op diet but :cry:I have been nibbling here and there eeek I hope I will be ok for the op?? How do you know if you liver will be ok for the op ??

I dont think theres a way you can check if its ok. If youve only had a few nibbles you will probably be ok. Good Luck XX

Yes hand on heart a few nibbles, I would be very worried if I had a full blown take-away haha. My weakest moment is when Im dishing up the kids food and snacks ... only 5 more days to go !!

Just try your best for the next 5 days and Im sure you will be fine, its so easy to just pinch something and eat it before you realise what youve done! The days will fly by :D XX

Don't fret about what you can't change, just be prepared for danger times around food prep..get some strong sugar free gum and chew that whilst you are doing food for others, that's what I do and it helps a lot as nothing tastes that good with zingy mint mixed into it.

As the others have said, just try to be really good for the remaining time. I don't think there is a way to tell if your liver has shrunk enough.
I have 2 weeks to go and it is HARD this pre-op diet. But, on the bright side, we know these pounds lost won't come back. It can only get better from here :)
Good luck! xx

hi hun theres no way of checking only the surgeon can see on the day of the op, the diet is designed to shrink the liver so its easier for the surgeon to do the op, the surgeon is the only one that can tell what extent each patient has cheated by how fatty the liver is once the op has begun, becareful and try not to cheat for the remaining time as it has been known for people to wake up and there ops havent been done due to a fatty liver, stay strong you should be ok if you stick to the diet sheet between now and the op x

pre-op appointment

So much to take in, has anyone had trouble after the bypass? is it the best option?

Help....i'm in so much pain

I work 2 jobs and sit in front of a computer up to 10 hours a day and i think i may have presure sore on my bum and top of my legs, cant see any wounds but its sooooooooo painful to sit or even laid down, it alittle better if i lay on my side in bed.
I was just wondering if anyone has the same problem and if so what did they do or take.

i wondered if it was because im so heavy im stopping blood getting to that area, its making me so miserable because im in constant pain and i cant sleep at night as i cant get comfortable.

Someone please help

Maybe a visit to the GP is needed, It probably is some kind of pressure sores if you sit for long periods. Have you tried sitting on a cushion or something similar? I use a wheelchair and I know they do all sorts of cushion that can stop you getting pressure sores etc. Take a look on Ebay, hope it eases off soon (HUG) XX

Is it any better when you are not at work for any length of time? Like over the weekend, does it ease?

I had a few cheats on my diet and was worred but when you are paying for op they wont turn you away, the first thing i said after op was "Had my liver shrunk. He said yes

I had a few cheats on my diet and was worred but when you are paying for op they wont turn you away

That's what my mum says to me when I'm struggling!

I worry with my liver in terms of how much I generally drink. Giving up that and crisps is the hardest thing!

They might have to turn you away if your liver hasnt shrunk enough as it is dangerous. I was told this by my surgeon who said that because the liver bleeds so much they wont operate if it hasnt shrunk.....Unless they are really ruthless I would have thought it would be the same if you were NHS or Private XX
