January 2014 surgeries

Thanks everyone. As it happens I ended up in hospital. Was being sick but with blood in it. Got all clear but had to spend 12 hours in nhs hospital that know nothing about bariatrics. Rang 111 and they sent me to my nearest hospital rather than one that specialises in bariatrics.

That's a valentines night to remember!!!! Hope you are feeling better now??!!! Hope you are having a restful day. Take care x
Love sal xx

oh no larabelle, hope you are feeling a little better xxx

Both miss Badger and miss Lara are looking fabulicious. Really noticeable and encouraging losses. Well done girls. I'm still stalled at 1 1/2 stone loss. Basically I've lost the stone since surgery on 14th Jan. Slowest loss in the history of wls it feels!!! Rubbish :-(

No Rocco I'm right beside you with the slowest weight loss ever I just constantly think this hasn't worked for me if I'd have been self funding I'd be suicidal!

I had my gastic loop on the 25th january and i have only positive feedback, losing 2 stone and 10lbs since starting my milk diet, im over the moon with how its going and although im going to have another week off work im more than ready to go back even though i was originally quoted 6-8 weeks.
It hasnt all been plain sailing, after the 1st week i was seriously dehydrated which caused the discs in my back to dry up and had me laid up in agony for a week and because of this i was prescibed codiene which caused constipation along with a massively reduced diet and dehydration i never 'went' for almost a week. this has been properly reversed this weekend however as i must have caught a bug and had bad diarreah which has seriously dealt with the back'log' TMI sorry!
Never been happier, by the end of next week im expecting to be sub 20 stone which i havent been since i was in my early 20's :) :) :)

no the loop is basically the same as a bypass but where as with a bypass there are 2 joins, the loop is a newer op where the stomach is cut in such a way that only 1 join is necessary (the pouch is incorparated into the intestine further up apparently), the surgeon told me that this system is from usa and there have only been about 55 (at that point) done in this country. it takes half the time of a standard bypass and costs a lot less. this will apparently be the standard in a couple of years due to time and cost savings. Weight loss is virtually the same but recovery and complications are halved. The only negative is that they cannot perform a loop on people with stomach ulcers as it can cause severe reflux.
how are you doing

the first few days are a bit sore,i was lucky in a way, i had my op on the saturday afternoon and had visitors on the night but none on the sunday so i more or less slept all day so by the time i was discharged on the monday i felt really fresh and full of energy. the food at this stage is more repetetive than anything else due to the tiny amount you have its a case of freeze it and have it again and again. even with 4 or 5 different choices it still get boring quite quickly.
hope you feel better soon, its only going to get better from here

I moved off purred food today. Had a half slice of toast for breakfast. Chewing & that crunchy noise when you bite the toast was amazing! Was worried i wouldn't tolerate bread but so far so good. Yippee!

band fitted 16.01.14

Great feeling eh? U may struggle with untoasted bread Hun, unless u take ages n no liquid after or it swells :/ nom nom nom
