July 2015 Surgeries

Any helpful hints or tips of what to take to hospital apart from my pj's, I pad and toiletries???

Hi Hun

My list is as follows but I always take far too much:

All my meds in their boxes. I've been told to do this by team.
Hospital signed consent form
Tooth brush/paste/mouthwash
Face wipes/cream
Shower gel
Deodorant spray
Make up (I doubt I will us it lol)
Knickers
Sport bra - been advised that the extra support helps to keep your boobs away from the incision wounds.
PJ's Dressing gown slippers (pj's so you don't have to lift a nightdress up all the time lol)
Magazines/book to read whilst waiting to go down to theatre
Dry mouth spray.
Peppermint tea
Clothes to go home (I'm taking harem trousers and loose fitting top) for comfort
Iphone and charger.
Peppermint tea - for wind pain after op
Meal replacement shakes from protein works or similar. They did say that they have complan and similar post op products.
And myself of course xx

Sent from my iPhone using WLSurgery

If you have one of those vest ops with an internal support I would recommend using that instead of a bra.

Sainsburys do a pull on soft bra which I used. It was perfect for the job. It is very comfortable to sleep in but keeps those ladies away from your tum. Was 4 or 5 pounds back in June.

Just had pre op! All systems go!! Being admitted to a private ward rather than usual surgical ward. Might be in longer as having my hiatus hernia and old gastric band removed which has damaged my stomach then converted to a bypass. 3 in 1.
Roll on Saturday. I'm so ready to go!
Good luck to you all

Was it triggered by sugar or fat ? reason I ask is I had a first myself, less thn 20 minutes after eating.. horrible, caused by too much fat .. I think. no shakes or anything, just pretty severe toilet issues

Hi Chrissy

Mashed potato I think...started to feel sweaty and hot within about 5 minutes and then tired...needed to lie down and felt queasy. Lay down for about 30-45 minutes after which it had almost gone. BM about 2 hours afterwards even though I had gone about an hour before eating.

As others have said it was a surprise because I had eaten exactly the same amount and combination of food a couple of days ago with no issues.

Hope you're well

Nick

P.S. My shoulder/arm issues have eventually been traced to a trapped nerve in my neck causing sever muscle spasms. Start acupuncture and massage tomorrow but am unable to have an MRI for another 4 weeks because of the staples in our stomachs.

Heavens, it sounds awful. I ate a kids meal in IKEA. Also involved mashed potato but I ate very little of that, think it was the meatballs and sauce along with half a mug of full fat cappuccino. I panicked trying to find my way back to the ladies, but a member of staff steered me to a disabled toilet. My face must have been a treat lol.
If I needed to lie down I would nave headed for the bed department :D

Lesson learned.

I hope you get some relief from the acupuncture and massage.
