June 2015 Surgeries

3 more sleep will flash by, Are you all packed and ready to go ? Lol.

I am still unpacking and washing from hols. Need to get myself in gear and do a shop for what I need. Six sleeps until I leave for Belgium.
It actually does seem like its starting to go by fast now. I've started packing but I've still got a few more stuff to get. I'm trying to decide between nighties or pyjamas. Which do you think I should pack?
You having got long to go as well. How are you feeling? How you going on your milk diet?

Hi All, Finally after a 2 1/2 year wait i'm being admitted to SRH on 8th June for surgery on 9th June. I'm doing my pre op diet at the minute and finding it really hard but i know its all worth it.
I'm more excited than nervous, just can't wait to get it over with after all this time.
Congratulations on getting your date Pauline and welcome. It's great that there's quite a few of us having our op in June. In fact if I'm not mistaken I'm sure there is someone ahead of me starting their new life tomorrow!
I'm finding the lsd such a bore but it's definitely going to be worth it. (Hopefully) x

Pyjamas are best, loose. Need to get another pair myself as in 3 nights. Feeling fine so far, on food not milk diet so that makes it easier for me. Seems very close now :)

1 day post op jackie! How are you getting on?
My turn next and I can't waitttttttttt. Only 3 more sleeps! I can't believe I can actually say that

Hi Jay
I am doing ok, was very uncomfortable yesterday but feel better now. I am on sips of water only at the minute and I can feel that water every step until it hits my empty stomach, weird! Get to have a breakfast this morning which slightly scares me!
Not long at all for you now.
Good luck
Jackie

Yeah that makes sense actually. I think I'm one of the 1st for the day but I was still told that I'd be admitted in for 2 nights so ill probably pack 2 pyjamas and 1 nightie(just in case).
Can I ask what is your average day like food wise? I do miss biting into something to be honest lol

Hey jackie, it's great to hear that you're feeling better and I hope you continue on doing so. Are you experiencing any wind pain? I'm dreading that as I know it's quite common after surgery.
I wonder what they'll give you for breakfast. Are you keeping down the water okay?
Thanks jackie, I am starting to have a lot of 'what if' thoughts. Maybe it's the nerves kicking in.

It's nice to see you're enjoying life. This is definitely the type of motivation I need. I'm really worried about hair loss though. Have you experienced any yet? I wonder if by hair loss it's a few strands or if it gets so bad that people have to cut their hair (something I always try to avoid apart from getting it trimmed)[/QUOTE

Yes am
Loosing hair it's just sort of going thinner , not bald patches or anything but I am
Taking biotin and using fast hair shampoo from boots xxx

Hi Jay yes I will take 2 in case I puke on one pair lol. My average day is low fat yogurt ( Fage 0% ) and fresh fruit with a dribble of honey. Lunch is small salad, soup or couple of boiled eggs. Dinner is grilled fish and salad or veg. No bread, potatoes etc. I have quite a big breakfast but I might reduce that and have more smaller meals. Though I am not hungry as I try to keep the protein as high as possible. My surgeon basically left it up to me so I could nave gone milk diet but couldn't face it. Yesterday I tried a protein drink for lunch, I really struggled not to bring it up and only managed half of it with sips of coffee in between. I felt sick all afternoon after that.

Not long now. :) days are flying by.

Morning. I have just had 2 teaspoons of porridge, was quite scared to eat! All seems ok. Had a good sleep last night so hoping to get home today.

How are you doing? Not long now?

Hi Jay

The wind pains were'nt as bad as I thought to be honest, I was just uncomfortable rather than pain. I have had 2 teaspoons of porridge for my breakfast so hopefully that will stay down. Hoping to come home today.

Nerves are normal, I have had a little grieve for my missing stomach now! Mad! When are you going in?
Jackie

That first food is scary isn't it? You'll get used to it though :) Sounds like you're doing great!! I'm sure they'll let you home today if you've managed some food, then you can really start to recover - nothing like being in your own home :)

Wow porridge already :) seems weird just teaspoons, my brekkies are big healthy ones, but big atm to fill me up and stave off snacking. I am fine, got the GP this am so I can ask for some soluble painkillers and. Get referred for my knee and h, may as well get the ball rolling as will take time and the pain is not getting easier. Hopefully a few stone off those joints will help but some say it gets worse :( Regardless I need something I can take post op and a lot of stuff will be off limits. Time is flying though. Hope you continue to heal and get mobile to shift any wind pain. X

In the past I found my joint pain did get worse when I lost weight. Don't know what's different this time but I'm glad to say the pain is soooooo much better and I'm off all the meds :)
Fingers crossed it does the trick for you too x

Thanks Su2ie, all we can do is hope for the best. I have a feeling something more will be needed as I have known for years that both knees and hips were badly worn and just recently the pain took a turn in the wrong direction. Lol as if I haven't enough going on.
