June 2015 Surgeries

Great to hear from you Jackie - hopefully you'll get home today and have a speedy recovery! Xx

Hi Aud
Yes I am coming home today so happy about that. How are you doing? Xxx

I feel like I have slept more or less foe the last 24 hours! Feel better for it! Coming home at lunch time so that will be better x

That is great news, enjoy your own bed / routine ;).

Pyjamas are best, loose. Need to get another pair myself as in 3 nights. Feeling fine so far, on food not milk diet so that makes it easier for me. Seems very close now :)

Chrissy, Frederik told me I would be in 3 nights but I only stayed 2. I had to get Bart to check I had a bed at the hotel lol

Hi All,
My op is on 9th June and i'm on day 10 of my LSD, I'm getting really sick of it now, gagging on the milk and if i never see another yoghurt or bowl of soup i wouldn't care.
I've lost 5 kg so far on the LSD so thats the only thing keeping me going.
I hope every one else is doing ok xxx

Hi Jay yes I will take 2 in case I puke on one pair lol. My average day is low fat yogurt ( Fage 0% ) and fresh fruit with a dribble of honey. Lunch is small salad, soup or couple of boiled eggs. Dinner is grilled fish and salad or veg. No bread, potatoes etc. I have quite a big breakfast but I might reduce that and have more smaller meals. Though I am not hungry as I try to keep the protein as high as possible. My surgeon basically left it up to me so I could nave gone milk diet but couldn't face it. Yesterday I tried a protein drink for lunch, I really struggled not to bring it up and only managed half of it with sips of coffee in between. I felt sick all afternoon after that.

Not long now. :) days are flying by.
It's great that you're eating very healthily though, can't say I would've been as disciplined had I been on the low calorie diet as i've been at my mums house since Monday and nothing is tastier than her cooking lol so I guess the milk diet is a blessing in disguise. I don't know how much weight I've lost to date as there are no scales here but i should be going back home tonight though so going to jump right on it as I'm eager to find out.
Sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling well. How are you doing now?

Hi Jay

The wind pains were'nt as bad as I thought to be honest, I was just uncomfortable rather than pain. I have had 2 teaspoons of porridge for my breakfast so hopefully that will stay down. Hoping to come home today.

Nerves are normal, I have had a little grieve for my missing stomach now! Mad! When are you going in?
Jackie
Xx
Hi jackie.
It's good to hear that you didn't find the wind pain that painful, I'm quite worried about that. Only 2 teaspoons of porridge? I can't believe this is going to be normal for us soon. How many teaspoons did they say they expect you to take when you get home? Also how long did it take for you to come round and are you aware of when you're being put to sleep? Lol so many questions

It's nice to see you're enjoying life. This is definitely the type of motivation I need. I'm really worried about hair loss though. Have you experienced any yet? I wonder if by hair loss it's a few strands or if it gets so bad that people have to cut their hair (something I always try to avoid apart from getting it trimmed)[/QUOTE

Yes am
Loosing hair it's just sort of going thinner , not bald patches or anything but I am
Taking biotin and using fast hair shampoo from boots xxx
Now this, I am not really looking forward to at allllll. Are you finding any improvements after taking biotin and the boots shampoo. I think I'll order some biotin and hair care plus online asap so it arrives in time just in case ( Hopefully I won't need it). How many weeks post op are you now and how are you finding it? Is it difficult getting in your daily fluids, calories and proteins?

I think its because I am having a band out as well, but yeah my son is sharing with his dad for those 3 nights so we would be snookered. Of course they know the situation as they arranged the rooms. It was 110EUR per night for an additional room so didn't fancy paying for 5 nights if I didn't have to.

Hi Jay
I was told by the dietician to aim for 2-3 teaspoons at each meal. It's a very strange feeling.
I went to theatre at 9 and was back on the ward at about 12.30. The anaesthetist was fab and really put me at ease. The first question when I came round was 'has he done it?' Ha ha. I can honestly say
it's been more uncomfortable than painful!
Please ask any questions you like Jay.
You will be fab xxxx

Sorry i just noticed that I didn't answer your question early, not sure how I missed it lol. I told I'd be admitted in at 6.30 amd taken down to theatre at 9.30.
I love how you seem very upbeat and optimistic about the whole experience. Alot of people have experienced the 'what have you done?' feeling and regret. But I don't seem to get that from you which is quite a relief as i have read so many posts like that that I've started to think it happened to everyone. I appreciate every experience is a unique one but my nerves are starting to kick in now so good news is a relief lol.
Wow 2-3 teaspoons?! How are you finding that? Are you back home?

Yes I am home, just really tired. I am honestly ok. I went into this with my eyes open, I think we just need to be kind to ourselves and manage the expectations! You will be fine, the waiting is one over xxx

Hi Jackie hope all ok xxxx

Hi Andie
I am fine thanks. Home now so just trying to catch up on sleep. Hope you are still doing well. How did you manage the puréed stage? Xxx

Did everyone keep to their pre op diets to the letter??
I'm meant to be having 4 tins of ww soup, 4 muller lights & a pint of milk... I'm only managing 1/2 - 1 tin of soup if I'm lucky, 3 yoghurts and around 1/2 pint of milk :( Do you think this will affect my liver shrinking. Have really really tried to get more in, but just makes me vom :( Didn't realise I would struggle with getting it all in!! Thought I'd be wanting more!! Ha ha :)

8 more sleeps :) I did the milk diet for 8 weeks during tier 3. I honestly thought the soup & yoghurt would be easier, but it's really not. Surely it can do any harm.
How are you feeling now Jackie? xxx
