Been shopping today for all the bits that everyone recommended, hope I got it all. Dry mouth spray £8 a bottle didnt expect that! Was looking for some peppermint oil but seems it only comes in tablets, pharmacist told me to take infacol with me, what do you all think? Just 7 more days of the milk diet then its THE DAY! :):)

Ooooo jilly bet you cant wait all the best look forward to seeing how you get on as your having done what I want where did you get the dry mouth spray? I remember every time in hospital that being my only problem gagging for something to wet my mouth lol would imagine you could get peppermint oil from health food shop perhaps?

I am sooooo excited just cant wait, the days seem to being going too slow lol. I got the dry mouth spray from my local chemist perhaps a bad idea as it was probably cheaper elsewhere but who cares about money Im having my surgery in 7 days!!! haha Good luch with your process its a long one I know. xx

Glad its nearly here for you!!

I am cheap so didn't bother with the mouth spray I asked for a mouth care kit in hospital and that did the trick, its a pack with what looks like half a dozen pink lollipops in it, they are foamy and the idea is you soak the lollys in iced water and wash them around your mouth, thats perfectly good and you can do that all the time.

I never had a single problem with wind, didn't feel a thing with that so who knows you may be the same.

For me the vital thing was baby wipes, kept me fresh plus ear plugs if you want to get any sleep!!!

After the op you won't care so much what your oh is eating, I happily sat next to my hubby while he had pizza delivery!

Finding it better today think my stomach has got used to the fact that its getting nothing other than liquid. Rereading all my info that I was given to keep me in check, anyone think I was going on holiday im that excited, got my bag all ready to pack. Dont think its sunk in yet that its actually drastic surgery, its just weight loss to me and a permanant aid to a slimmer me.

4 days to go

Well its sunday, raining, my other half has gone to the gran prix, Im feeling pretty bored so went and stood on the scales, dropped 8lbs since starting this darned milk diet so it perked my mood up a bit. Surgery thursday thats all I think about to keep me going, Im not hungry at all now but the boredom of milk :( Still Im looking forward to the next phase of my life and chucking a few of these tent like looking clothes out. Anyways anyone tried these dulcoease tabs either before or after op? would like to be able to go a bit easier if you get my drift.

Tried dulce ease post op as I struggle with drinking enough fluids it at least softens things but I tend to use dulcolax now I alternate between 1 a day & 2a day as I'm still struggling with enough fluids ok when sat doing not a lot but when busy, distracted or at work I'm not so good.
I wouldn't reccommend trying them to soon after surgery I'd use diluted prune juice or fibrogel does the same but gentler on the healing pouch. But to help you ease things pre-op should be fine but not to close to surgery you don't want a urgent response to the laxative when your struggling to move quickly post surgery.

Thank you that makes sense. I take dulcolax now as always had problems, thought it might be a bit too harsh for post surgery.

Don't take fybogel post op as it expands in the pouch. Get your doc to prescribe lactulose. That's the advice Louise at l and d gave me and it was a godsend.

Hi, I saw this post and thought I would share this, http://www.boots.com/en/Boots-Expert-Dry-Mouthspray-50ml_1215897/ the dry mouth spray is only £2.55, you find it where the mouthwash and toothpaste is. I'm a banded so sure it is different, but I've been using lactulose and hate it because it gives me terrible wind and I daren't trump without rushing to the toilet just in case!! Sorry if that's too much information! But one of the other forum users recommended prune juice, £1 a box from Asda, that has been fantastic! Good luck to you all on your ops and afterwards. X
