Last Supper

So Im on the pre op diet now day 2 :sigh: but now the lovely hubby wants to take me for a meal on the night before I go in. Is this a good idea or not ? Will it affect my liver that much over a day?

I was thinking the same. But I'm gunna stick to it the night before. Plus, it wont be that hard coz the hubby is doing it as well for support

No dont do it ! the hospital advised me not to have the last supper as it will undo all the hard work you have done !

I know this pre opp diet is hard but dont be tempted ur so close to surgery now, how upset would you be if you woke up from surgery and they had'nt done it ?

Think of your health this pre opp thing is for a good reason x

Hayley thats nice that hes doing it with you...mine offered me a biscuit last night, 'well I thought it said small biscuit on the diet sheet' ! god only knows what diet sheet he was reading

Us three are all around the same date we can do this pre opp diet together and support each other :grouphugg:

really glad ur not having the last supper I know what you mean Iv been craving McDonalds all day but no way am I going in there !

Im going to drayton Manor on Monday with my friend and her kids its gonna be a nightmare but im taking a ickle picknic !

its for our own good in the end x

Margaret I had the last supper on Monday night ! and it was my favourite Chinese takeaway Yum Yum ! :drool:

Stay in "pre-op diet mode" is the best advice I believe and suspect your consultant would probably say the same.....the whole part of the pre-op is to gain maximum liver shrinkage plus you will remain focused for after your op...."good luck and best wishes"....

Lol. I have just come back from my first group session and they were telling us about someone who had pizza the night before the op. They had to pump her stomach three times apparently (not sure why!). Not sure if she was allowed the op or not!!!

No!!! It will still be in your system and they will have to clean your bowels out!!! Particularly if you eat rich food or red meat.

Youve already had good advice, but just to echo what everyone else has said - definitely dont do the last supper the night before the op.

Most people that want a last supper have it prior to starting the pre op diet. Thats what I'm doing. Me bad this week, have had a meal out last night and a chinese takeaway tonight. My pre op diet starts next weds.

Glad you enjoyed it , I`ll be having curry for mine . Good luck to you all that is on the pre op diet .The nurse told me that if the surgeon opens you up and the liver has not shrunk he will sew you up with no op so I`ll defo be sticking to it . Take care .

yep i agree with the others the final supper should be done the evening before you start the pre op diet to get it out of your system, good luck with your op xxx

Don't even got there hunThe way to think of it, is that you've had a zillion last suppers, and that's why you need the opThat's how I rationalised it to myself anyway

Just my opinion but I wouldn't touch any thing other than the diet given to you.....OMG can you imagine you waking up in the same condition you went under, un-bypassed?
