Liz I have faith you can do this. You have been around people who have gone through it and will get all the support you need right here. At the rate things are moving for me we may end up having our ops the same time, so for me it will be good to have someone who is going through the process, although I appreciate your surgery is going to be slightly different with the band removal. Just remember you will be able to draw on all the experience you have gained from being a bander. Just swapping one tool for another. Good luck x

i need to learn to convert from just thinkin band x

Liz, you are going to rock your bypass. I have no doubt about that.

Most of the rules are the same hun, ie no drinking with meals, eat dense food to feel fuller quicker (but obv not straight away as you will no doubt have a liquids and then sloppies regime to follow)

The main difference will be the need for supplements Liz, so maybe try and get into that habit already with a good multivit every day. You may also have to take lansoprazole (to prevent acid) and calcium supplements after your bypass, but your own team will advise you.

I to agree with sam! your going to do fab, look at your determination and positive thinking towards your band! you will channel all that positive thinking into your bypass, plus you will have all your team helping you along the way, your just having a lil wobble like we all do when we sit and think what surgery were having, your a determind lady liz :) and im absolutly confident you will take to your bypass like a duck to water ((hugs hunni)) xxx

Liz,

I understand totally why you feel nervous, you have done things the same way for six years and now a change is on the horizon. It's normal and natural to feel hestitant but you know deep down you have the skills to make this work for you.

Just remember - what advice would you be giving to someone else if they had asked this question....;)
:):):)

Liz I have no doubt whatever you can do this. I echo everyone else's comments.

From what I know of you you're very determined and motivated.

Sure it's going to feel different for a while, but I would've thought you may actually be in a BETTER place to succeed with all your knowledge and experience. :)

Look on it as 'transferable skills'!

Thankyou to everyone thats commented i guess im just doubting myself that i can think different from banding, if i have a any worries or concerns i know i have all my friends here and also at the hospital, i guess im just thinking out loud on here and feeling maybe a tad dissapointed in myself right now because of regaining weight which i can physically feel as my backs been playing up again and i can feel the old me coming back while i await my op date, i never thought the "old Liz" would return but shes starting to and thats scary to deal with for me, i will plod on and try to make the correct food choices while i await my conversion, but i get disheartned some days as by the time i get my op i will have lived with a broken band inside me for 12 months, sorry for waffling on, i just felt the need to get vocal.

ah bless you. Oh I just want to give you a huge hug. That must feel awful. Hang on in there Liz, there's light at the end of the tunnel.
Stupid band!

thanks hun, its not the band thats stupid its the P/S thats stupid for not being more carefull in the 1st place :(

At the end of the day you adjusted to band life after a lifetime of eating a certain way so I would say it would be tricky at the start but i'm sure you would soon get use to it as most of the principles are more or less the same

Good luck i'm sure you will be fine

Jaffa x

Kelly its not that simple when your used to living with restriction as a food addict all them years then it suddenly been taken away from me is not good especially as this is the 2nd time, i feel as if i have no band at all, i eat a normal adult portion right now as a kids portion no longer satisfies me, i could be all out bad and have take aways and pizzas but im not, i have had the odd bad thing but its portion control thats caused the weight re gain ive put on 3st but, im still 5st lighter than when i 1st started this journey.

im just hanging in the best i can for now hun x

Liz, there is really no need to worry. You will cope just as you did with the major changes in lifestyle when you had both of your bands. You know there are rules, albeit slightly different from the previous ones, but you apreciate the importance of them and that if you don't follow them you may well suffer. I suspect you are feeling the way are you because you will be under the limelight due to you being an "expert" who is going back to be a "learner" again. Good luck to you sweetie, November wil be here before you know it. C ya soon. xx

Oh my word! now I just want to hug you even more!

oh my goodness I'm emotional today, I wonder why?!

my heart just goes out to you Liz. You can do this honey. What about putting yourself on a modified pre-op diet, with November in view?

obviously not as drastic, but maybe following a proper diet sheet would help? just a suggestion though, I'm sure you know best what works for you.

whatever you do, I'd certainly like to offer you all my support. You so totally deserve it.

xxxxx
