Next meeting for Salford surgery forum is 14 October.

I am not having a good time at the moment. I have had diarrhoea on and off for over 5 weeks now. This was put down to the iron tablets and it then took me 2 weeks to get my gp to change it - they really are useless, will be changing asap. However, I think because I haven't been taking iron for last 2 weeks, it has left me totally exhausted and on Wednesday i gave up the pretense of going to work and have succumbed to taking some time off. I have an appointment at my gp's on Monday and I am hoping they will do full blood tests etc to check that everything is Ok because I feel really rough. I keep going dizzy and feel like I am going to faint, hot one minute, freezing cold the next, want to sleep all of the time and have absolutely no energy to do anything at all. I must admit, I am really fed up and I am hitting rock bottom at the moment. Should have been going out today to meet a friend for a girly day out and instead, i have been in bed most of the day. Not drinking enough either, not really eating that much as the smell of food turns my stomach. Beginning to wonder why I have had this done! I am sure this is a blip and I will get over it, just wonder if I will still have a job by then too. Sorry to moan, but feeling very sorry for myself!

Hi al sorry to hear yr not feeling well. Hope the dr is helpful to you. Have you tried removing dairy products from yr diet it could be that youve become lactose intolorant. try soya milk cheese and yogurts instead.
hope you get to the bottom of it all
carole

Thanks for the advice but the only milk I have is half a cup in the morning to take my tablets. I don't really eat a lot of dairy produce so don't think it is that. My iron tablets now seem to be kicking in though and I do feel a bit more human today so maybe it is just that it took so long to get the right ones. I will see what doc says tomorrow though, but i really need to get back to work asap whilst I still have a job to return to!

Hi hope you are feeling better. I would have thought that you would have felt really rough with the illness you have felt, I hope it is sorted now. Be careful of not eating & drinking, especially when you are unwell you can get dehydrated so very fast which can compound nausea, dizzy spells & overall fatigue. Some miniminers have landed back in hospital due mostly to dehydration so be careful and take care of yourself.

Nic:)

Thanks Nic, feeling a bit better every day now that they have sorted my iron tablets out. I am very anaemic so hopefully it will sort itself out. Still off work, taking life easy, just building up my strength. I have even got my apetite back yesterday and actually enjoyed what I had eaten - a first for weeks. Trying desperately to keep the fluids up too. Hopefully will see you tomorrow night.

Just wondering how you are now, feeling any better ?

Thanks for asking how I am, I actually feel human again! My proper iron tablets have kicked in and I am feeling much better. Still very tired but getting there. Going back in work on Monday so I must feel better! Even found an interest in food again which is great news.

Thats wonderful, sounds like your on the way up just take it slowly when you go back to work .

I will be taking things really easy. I only work a few hours in the morning so that helps. Looking forward to getting back to be honest, I am missing the kids as I work in a school. Only a few weeks to half term too so will have another week then to rest too.

Glad you're feeling a little better.
