My Journey

congratulations Ian that's awesome!! Such a positive outlook on the weight loss too. You're doing really great :D Xx

Hi Folks,
So just back from L&D. So six weeks since surgery and the weight loss confirmed at 13.7 Kg. Very happy chap.
Have been advised that the current weight loss is a bit high and that it might slow down. Am I worried , NO. Any weight loss is good.
Blood pressure is a bit low, so now see if I can get my GP to reduce my meds.
Fantastic weight loss you should be so proud of yourself

Really great news and results Ian and brilliant about reducing BP meds. Well done x

Hi folks, just a whinge, sorry.
So had 6 week follow up on Tuesday and should have had another one in 6 weeks time. However, because I had a followup appointment to see surgeon in April, it was decided not to book it but to go for 18 weeks ( i.e. June). Great came home with dates sorted.
Today received letter cancelling surgeon's appointment and moving it till August, that will make it 28 weeks since surgery. Phoned , so I now have a 12 week followup appointment and told it was not unusual to not see a surgeon post surgery for 28 weeks ( Most surgeons are keen to make sure their patients are recovering and no outstanding issues). Suspect I will be writing to them early next week.
Grumpy !!!!!!!!!!

Gosh that’s a long while; we are going on holiday 15 weeks post op and I’m hoping to get a couple of appointments in before then.....and of course the all clear to go

Sorry you have had this Ian but to be honest I think the dietician is more important for help and reassurance after the surgery unless you have complications from op. You are doing so very well with weight loss xx

Fab weight loss Ian xxx

I had an appointment at 6 weeks thentsupposed to have one at 6 months but they forgot to tell me about it then said they would see me at 12 months!
Hopefully not every area is like this. X

Last post by me was just releasing my frustration. As @Maria61 says the regular dietician/nursing team appointments are the important ones. The followup appointment to see the surgeon (August) , is now a new goal on my weight loss plan. Have not lost anything this week, but I am fine with that.
It is still early days and are still learning what size of portion my stomach can deal with.

You are doing so well Ian x

So tomorrow will be 5 weeks post surgery. By my scales I have lost just over 11 kg. Back at L&D on 6th March, so will update my weight loss graph then.
Still learning portion size and the fact that i cannot finish everything on my plate. In the old days I would have pushed on and cleared my plate, now I just throw the bit left in the bin. Had 3 chocolates on Friday, first since surgery. They tasted good but they were enough for me. In the old days I would have eaten the box and looked for more.

Had a clean out of my clothes, 4 bags went to charity shop, it felt great.
Glad you are doing well ian been given a new date of 27th april ill keep you posted

Hi @Ian2Big How are you doing now after surgery?
Hi @_Victoria_
Doing well thanks, still losing although it has slowed a bit. Have found if I don't follow the plan of 3 meals and 3 snacks a day I tend to graze and that does not help. Lots of stomach grumbling, so now if out , make sure I don't miss my snack.
Everyone says I look thinner and healthier, so it is always good to get encouragement from them.

How are you doing ?

It sounds like you're doing great! I'm glad you're still losing. I expect it does have to slow down the slimmer you get but that just means you're getting slimmer so every cloud has a silver lining haha

I'm doing okay thanks. Had a stall for a week but the weight seems to be coming off again now. I'm finally managing to eat more than a few nibbles which is good because i feel more normal and have some more energy. I'm still missing meals sometimes though i might have 2 instead of 3 because i just don't feel hungry. That's something i need to work on because my dietitian says that skipping meals can stop weight loss and i definitely don't want that to happen!
