Hey I'm Lisa I was banded October 17th and I have suffered many difficulties. I have very little support from family and friends and I'm looking to meet some new banded friends to share stories and advice xxxx

hi and welcome :)

I'm a bander, 18 months post op this weekend, you've come to a great place for support so have a vent and we will do our best to help you along the way :)

Hi lisa. Welcome to the forum ... It's the right place for getting support, guidance and honest answers from different perspectives based on people's own experiences.

I am a bander, banded in July 2011 after being a yoyo dieter and overweight since childhood, with the help of my band I gave lost 150lbs, and have gone from a size 24/26 to a 10/12. I never had any health complications luckily, and my banded journey has also been problem free...everyone knows I have had a band and I have had no negative comments as people see what hard work and focus it still needs to achieve weight loss. I :heartpump: my band.

What's your story? And what support are you looking for specifically ... ? :)

Hey all I was banded 17th October 13, at Dolan park in bromsgrove. I had to fund it myself and it was done by mr sigurdsson. Following my band (10 days post-op) my port wound completely opened up to the point where the nurse but her finger in and could feel the port inside. Quite gross!
I went to see mr sigurdsson at his clinic and he decided he would take the port out there and then, which required another operation. Due to the port being taken out, my band had no fluid in it. From then until 12th December, I had to return to the nurse 3 times a week to have the wound repacked and dressed to help it heal, as it had been left open following surgery. 12th December I had a new port put back in, and I had 6ml put in my band. I was in a rush to get back home, so it wasn't until I got home I realised my band was too tight. I couldn't keep my own saliva down never mind anything else. So the following morning I had 2ml taken out, and 1st February this year I had 1ml put in. I am struggling to keep things down at the moment and I really have to fight the sickness. I think it is still too tight but feel reluctant to have any taken out as I am worried about gaining weight. I have gone from 15st13 to 12st xxxx

That doesn't sound good, I was originally booked in with Mr Sigurdsson, but after googling him and reading the bad reviews and complications I cancelled and went with Mr Super, who I could only find positive things about. You really have had a bad time, and it does sound like you need some fluid taken out, I went and had my first fill last week, Mr super put in 1.5 mls during op, at the infill they decided to at 2.5mls taking me up to 4 mls, I went into the waiting room and like you I couldn't swallow my own saliva, I tried drinking a coffee and threw it up, ended up passing out and put on oxygen, they removed 1.5 mls leaving me with 2.5mls, they have told me that I have a 'Sensitive Band' and will only ever be able to have infills of 0.5 in future, If I can tolerate one at all.

You wont have a weight gain if you just take out 0.5mls it will make you feel more comfortable. Congratulations on you fab weight loss, in such a short time too xx

Oh dear you had a rough time too! My mum had her band with mr super 7 years ago. How have you found it now? I have 5ml in ATM and feeling so much restriction. Xxx

I finding it a bit easier now I have had some fluid out but still finding solid foods hard to eat, soft foods go down easy but I don't want to get dependent on them so will keep going. Hows your mum got on after 7 years? has she had any complications at all? xx

Me too I'm just tucking into my daily ready brek! No mum hasn't had any complications her band has been brilliant and she can eat really well with 4ml in xx

Gosh I haven't had ready brek in years, I want some now, that will be on the shopping list tomorrow. Its nice to hear that somebody is doing so well after seven years, it shows that it works! xx
