Hello losers :)
Im feeling so much more positive about my band and truly working WITH it now rather than standing on the sidelines waiting for magic to happen! Feeling really good!
I had my second fill on Friday bringing me up to 5cc, i asked the dietition about vitamins and she said i can still take my normal centrum capsules :/ Im a little bit nervous about getting stuck tho?
Can anyone assure me they can still take tablets? The dietition is great but isn't living the band herself so Im not too sure?x

Hi love, not a bander, but as a bypasser, I was told I could crush big pills into a yoghurt or something to make them easier to take. Does that help?

Hiya Daisy....

I'm post op 7 days, band too....was looking into chewable vitamins and dissolveable ones, but could only find kids ones!
So I got myself a tablet cutter...(pillcutter/pillmate)...and I cut it lengthwise. then into 3 or 4 bits...then its so much smaller. I take them one at a time with a drink thats strong tasting, as its chalky to swallow...I prefer Orange Juice.

Perhaps try that if you dont find any chewable like I didnt?

I was advised the bassetts soft and chewy for young adults by my dietician, but I havent seen any here yet

Just speaking personally here, but I found cut up pills were harder to swallow than whole ones, even big whole ones, as they were jaggedy rather than smooth edged and oval.

Hi

Just be different I was told not to take chewable or liquid multivitamins as they did not contain the correct levels of vitamins and minerals.

I take Forceval which are huge and they don't get stuck, although I am a bypasser and the port hole might be a bit bigger than with a band, but if it is it won't be much bigger.

Try one with plenty of fluid and you might find it goes through just fine.

Well it went down fine :) :) I'll take it afternoon time -because the band seems looser then- until my next fill cos I'll defo be too scared after that!

Yeah i actually had a great liquid one called Floredix or something for after my op but kinda forgot about it until now :/ best of luck with your op id say you're so excited!x

Thanks for all the replies!
I know now i really need to be taking one- i was eating pretty normally up until my fill on Friday so wasn't really a big deal.
Ruthie i split my vit in half last week and felt like id swallowed a razor blade :) will try crush them up.
I didn't know liquid ones didn't contain the same, Damn!

Well in saying all that my one is quite big and just went down grand so fingers crossed it always does!

My dietitian sais that the young adult / teenager one are better because it is more complete so take the boots chewable ones

The basslets children's ones are so moreish tho YUM. I hate to say this, but I have no problem with normal tablets to be honest! I don't have THAT much restriction that a tablet gets stuck But we are all different...

I have no problem with tablets either :)

Hi

If anyone has trouble swallowing there multivitamins I can recomend the Boots A to Z 50 plus, in the early days post surgery, they are very small compared to all the more common makes, they are not good enough for long term use but as something to get you going untill all the swelling has gone down they are just fine.
