November 2014 Surgeries

Hi Sharona, glad you're home. I heard a tip on another thread that might help. When your pouch is full you might feel a little bubbling. For me that's what happens. And also, TMI, I burp. I also remember is took me 4 or 5 days to 'go'. There's not much there and your body has to sort of remember what it's supposed to do. If you're worried perhaps try lactulose. It helps keep the water in your gut so things work more easily. I should say that I have no medical training, so listen to your GP or bariatric nurse first, but this is what worked for me. And rest as much as you can. Three weeks on I still feel tired and overdo it at times. It's a big assault on our bodies and we should treat them gently. But it's worth it. And it does get better. Take care c

Sharona- welcome back. I'm a bypasser as you know! I have had a few conversations with my team post op here is what I've been told. I was a private patient self funded. Fluid- you must drink freely and try to get in what you can. In my booklet it says 2 lt. I was managing that whilst on liquids but manage prob between 1.25&1.5 now I am on purée. Whilst on liquid you cannot stretch your pouch. I think the average bypass pouch is the size of an egg (don't dwell on that just yet it may freak you out ) Whilst on liquid diet I felt no restriction at all my bariatric nurse said everyone is different re restriction in the early stages and not to worry about it either way. To be honest on purée I'm not feeling any restriction yet either but I'm not pushing any boundaries at the mo with purée amounts.
Hope that's helpful?
Take it easy

Just to say Hi to everyone- we are all 'done' now and whilst I know some have had a tougher time than others post op, we are all cruising towards that losers bench now! keep up the good work and posting the updates! Just think by Christmas there will be a lot less of us literally!

So pleased you are doing well Sharona, take care.

Same here not been on, first internet down and not feeling great.
blood not to good, so having to go back to the hospital, and this pureed food yuk.
Hows everyone else doing on the pureed stage.

Hope everyone's fine

Hello Girls sorry to hear things are tough for the month enders, Sharona please don't apologise, we have all been through this first week and know how tough it is. I know I keep saying this but you will feel better and you will get better and then the weight will come off. apart from having a baby this is the most rewarding medical event I have ever had. I am loving being slimmer and so will you.

Morning all well its a sunny day here although frosty! It makes me feel so much better as i look out my bedroom across the fields!
Its been nearly a week post op for some of us November enders. Im hoping everyone is healing well and feeling so much better within themselves and to all other November peeps. Im trying to imagine that each of my days I'm getting stronger ! Im trying to think positive and trying to up my fluids although very very limited . I am feeling nauseous at everything i need to take esp milky things and soup! I really fancy some salmon but know its going to be a few weeks for that. Water squash etc are yuk! Im holding my breath whilst drinking have to get theses fluids in!
I have had a little pain but have tolerated it well with out the pain killers as they have made me feel so dopey and don't like that feeling. My sleeping is catnapping (i need to rest more) . But hey ho im getting there. Again thank you all for your kind loving comments I dont know what i would have done without this site as i have no real support this side. My daughter is coming in to help me change my embolism stockings and give me my clexhane injections and assist me with a shower as im so dizzy on my feet! My partner is in another world and hes making me feel like I'm a burden. He's silent and distant! Not sure whats going on there! As he's a very secretive person. However i getting there i have now had some lactulose for the bowels and nystatin for the oral thrush from GP along with two week sick note. Think I'm going to have to have longer than that or am i??
Best wishes esp to those who are still suffering im wishing you well. Xx

Hi Sharona. I just left you a message on your diary. Just take things a day at a time. Getting enough liquids in is a real struggle. It will get better as the days move on. Take care.

How is everyone else doing?

TBx

Yes the sipping, I started to hate water, when prior to this I would drink and gulp down loads.

I'm good thanks, still sore where the incisions are but so glad that wind has gone, boy that was painful! But obviously mild in comparison to what you have had to go through. Each day does get better. I can eat all the food I could before the op, but not as bigger portions but still more than I expected, but this should change when I have my first adjustment. My scales are still in the attic so no idea of weight loss since week after op which was 17lbs down. Work clothes are looser so hoping this is a good sign. First week back at work and I am so tired, I suppose it catches up with you xx

I hope u are all feeling abit better after having such a rough time. we are all done.yay! from the bottom of my heart I with u all the best in all ur weight loss journeys. onwards and downwards(in weight) to the new slim us! x
