I dont know what happened me yesterday but I somehow forgot I had a band!!

I was clearing up after lunch and one of the children didn't finish their ham sandwich and I took a bite......

Well I NEVER experienced anything like it in my life  I thought I was going to die, the pain was unbearable... I couldn't breathe, I panicked, Phil came runnig down the stairs, he got me a drink and pounded my back....luckily the drink helped and the beating!! lol and I could literally feel the bread slide down into my stomach after about a minute

Im telling you now I NEVER want to experience anything like that again, it scared the hell outa me.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Not a bander but yesterday i knew i had not got close to my protien intake so deided to pick pick pick at prawns and pastrami, end result was a lot of pain throughout the night and i too wil not be doing that again

yep it happened to me before thats when i decided to cut all bread out of my diet as its just not worth the pain x

Bread bloats me anyway so my plan was to cut it out after I have the surgery. I don't particularly enjoy it anyway :)

Hi Kate sounds like you had a mental block lol its amazing how the mind plays tricks like that Sounds like you got quite a fright and I am sure you will never forget again lol
Glad you recovered allright

Hope you both feel better today

I am almost 7 weeks post by pass. Last night my hubby had chippy for tea, I decided I wanted something other than 'mush' so I ordered a peice of KFC style chicken. I only has 2 'strips' of it, but it was horrible, I kept having to rush to bathroom and burp it up! I have stupidly done the same today with a thorntons choc bar. I have had a quarter and here I am again feeling like I have acid in my gullet and keep having to bring it up. Is this normal? Am I trying to run before I can walk?

Seven weeks out and you're eating KFC and Chocolate!! :beam: You should ask yourself are you making the right nutritional choices chick.

wow only 7 weeks and your looking for those foods, i am 6 motnhs and only have 2 squares of chocolate if i really need some as for KFC i have only managed the meat in a zinger burger once with the coating removed! and even then i knew i should not have been eating it but hormones were acting up and i wanted a crappy meal - managed not to dump but it cured me of wanting fatty foods

I too ate a piece of white bread after my op and thought I was dying.I've not touched it since. I'm a bander and had my 2nd fill on wednesday and tried a tiny piece of chicken today and the same happened. My nose started running, I was sweating and felt like I was having a heart attack with the pain. I could eat it before so thought nothing of it apart from chewing more but obviously with this 2nd fill I've got to learn again what I can and can't tolerate. Hope you feel ok now and hope the mind remembers the band next time lol.

Gaynor am much much better, the pain cleared around 5am this morning, and i am off pain killers from the op, so this next week should put me back up to par. LOL check out my diary for full week events there were a LOT!!! not all good but i am managing with them

Thanks Karlos, i use them to remind myself how far i have come physically, mentally i cannot even begin to chart the changes but i am more confident in myself and beliefs then at any time in my life.

ooooh Kate....that sounds awful :sign0137:

I've not tried bread and don't think I will after hearing how terribly most banders react to it

I accepted a sherbet lemon sweet today from a colleague and had to dispose of it quickly as it was fizzing me up and started hurting...no more of them for me :nono:

hope you're feeling ok now xx

i usually keep away from pasta, but.......

i had a fancy today for tuna pasta bake not had that for a couple of years now, it got stuck anyway :whoopass: me of all people should no better lol any way i payed the price and had to go wring me guts lol :jelous:

chuckles Liz its good to know we all do things that we shouldnt and can recover from them.

Gosh glad to hear that I am not the only one getting food stuck ... I felt a bit deprived yesterday when my family had fish and chips and I decided to nick a couple. I thought if I took little bites it would be alright 3 wks post op. Needless to say I felt every morsel going down to my stomach and it was very painful! Is it always going to be like this ...? At this rate I think I will stick to liquids for another few weeks!!!

Blackdolphin it does improve a lot. Soon you will manage small complete meals, including a meal out ie about 1/2 an indian or chinese dish all in one sitting. The trick is to listen to your body and do as it says it its full then stop eating, small bites well chewed and take your time. And avoid simple carbs as these fill you fast can stick easily and are very low in nutritian.
