Fee that's great, your doing amazing. Take the jeans back and proudly tell them you need a smaller size!! I don't think I'm losing as fast as others and have only dropped from 24/26 to 22, and depending where I get them from a 22 can be really tight. I have tried to eat out but ended up dumping, and I only managed a very small amount too. Thought I had picked a healthy option and I'm guessing the dressing was made with sugar :(
On the plus side I Cannot believe I am in the teens, only by 1 pound but it's still under 20 stone, and BMI has gone from 53 to 47.
Its weird cos other than feeling really tired occasionally I don't feel like I've had surgery, and although I know I've lost weight, I don't see that I am any smaller. Xx

Hey i'm just starting my journey Really for bypass surgery at Derby also! I'd love to hear some more of your experiences so far as in time line and stuff. I went for my first meeting at Derby for an educational talk on 6th November 2013 and then had my 2nd appointment with dietician and Dr Vessey on December 16th 2013. They said my next appt would be in around 3 months time when I then should hopefully go on the waiting list? Any idea goping off your own timelines how much longer you think I have till surgery? Please keep me posted on your experiences I'd love to know everything im in for :) xxx

Hiya Lisa,

I went on the list last December and had my op 30th Oct. So only 10 months wait. They only had 2 consultants for a while and now they have 3 so appointments are not taking as long. Do you know which surgeon your having? Bet you can't wait xx

Hi Lisa. I had my first appointment in Sept 2012 with Mr Ahmed and also saw dietician. He showed me the 3 different procedures they do and showed videos of them. I went on the list in March this yr so a 7 month wait but honestly it flew by and now I'm 7 weeks post op and 5 stone lighter than my first appt last year. :0)

Can't wait to get to the gym after Xmas! X

Hi Cat1972, good luck for your op, I look forward to hearing about your progress. I had my first visit with the Dietician at Derby back in July. I was referred to Dr Gillespie, the Psychologist, but then they managed to get the appointments mixed up as they forgot to book the Psychologist one, so I put the Dietician one back myself. I have now seen Dr Gillespie and have another appointment with him in March.

I saw the Dietician again last week and she told me that she would put me on the list and that the next appointment won't be with her, but someone else, who will give me the pre and post op diets. How long was it for you from getting put on the list until your actual surgery date?

Thanks
T

Hi LisaMay, I got put on the list on the 30th of May I have my pre-op appointment 22/1/14 so hopefully sometime in feb I will get my op. I'm under Dr Ahmed and having a sleeve. It does fly if you keep yourself busy.

Cat and fee,as we are all about the same time post op was wondering what you drink when you go out? I don't want to ask for a water or coffee every times go out (especially over Xmas) and obviously can't even have a diet coke due to bubbles. Have either of you tried a wine yet? I'm scared of having one over Xmas I case it makes me dump xx

Mad midwife I'm the same, haven't attempted alcohol incase I dump. I have a party on the 28th so think I'm going to have a small glass in the house prior to the 28th to see how I go first xx

I also haven't been brave enough to try anything. I always have water with ice and lime so cheap date lol! I had some fresh orange juice about 3 weeks post op and it made me bad so not tried it again but was thinking vodka and orange but I'd probably have to water it down! I'm gonna try some rose wine with loads of ice and have it in the house first so I can see how I am with it. It's so hard this time of year with all these tempting things about!x

cranberry juice n if you wann aput a vodka in it that's up to you but its early days ladies I know its a special occasion like but the choice is yours can you stop at one small one? Once you get a drink most folks want a nother. xx

Well today I have been stupid.. Old habbits die hard :( out at work all day and only had cuppa soups as it's been really hectic. Came home and hubby had made a lovely chicken dinner, opened the fridge to get it and right in front of it was a plate of profiteroles. I very greedily and very quickly ate 2... This has been the worst mistake I've ever made. Straight through, palpitations, dizzy, trembling, crying. I thought I'd had dumping a few times before but never like this. It frightened the life out of me. It's taken about 3 hours to calm down, still feel a bit shaky and the palpitations have left me feeling awful. Lesson well and truly learned!!!

Poor you. Dumping is horrible and really does knock it out of you. We all make mistakes don't be too hard on yourself x

Cat I've had the same I was really silly and had a galaxy ripple last week and it made me so I'll like u it took a good few hours to recover. I've lost my sweet tooth but they were just there and I thought I would give them a try and as u say old habits die hard.
I don't really fancy sweet stuff so much now but if I do want something I find dark chocolate like green and black they do tiny bars and I have been fine.
My other half bought me some 80?cococa less sugar batons from hotel chocolat for my birthday a but more pricey but soo nice for a treat! Hope everyone has a fab Christmas I'm looking forward to the sales and some smaller size clothes! Woo hoo! Xxx

J2o watered done half n half works a treat for me and I dump at a drop of a hat. My provider told me to wait six month before alcohol and I'm sticking to that. In saying that though I am not missing it at all. I think the fear of dumping has helped keep me on the straight and narrow.

Yep and the fact you ate them quickly wouldn't have helped either ;). Lesson learned hun. It's a darn good deterrent that's for sure. I'm on steroids just now and it's a struggle to ignore high sugar /carb foods but I daren't as the dread of being ill for a few hours is enough. X

Still not tried a drink dint think I will bother. Went out for a meal yesterday and some drank some didn't but for the first time in years I had a really good laugh without alcohol. I'd always relied on it in the past as I was so paranoid and it made me feel more confident. They also have a ice rink in Nottingham market square and I actually joined in with the kids! Only slipped once lol but wasn't to hard getting back up couldn't of said that a year ago! X

Fee I've not tried alcohol either, I'm too scared to try after my dumping episode, so I too will be avoiding it this year. I took kids to derby ice rink, needless to say I watched as I do every time. Wasn't brave enough to attempt it yet. Bet you had an amazing time :) xx
