Well got transfer to derby last night and had painkillers antibiotics and fluids here too. Seen Mr Ahmed this morning doesn't think it was too serious could be an inflamed diaphragm or an infection. I've got the worst taste in music mouth and my wee stinks! (sorry tmi!) How r u today cat? X

Fee hope your feeling better soon, you've proper been through it!! do you know how long you've got to stay in?

Am feeling a bit better today so hopefully antibiotics are kicking in, really don't want to be re admitted. Am struggling with fluids today, feeling like I have too much restriction, hoping this is due to coughing. Xx

Day 9 post op and although pain has eased a lot I can't stop crying!!! Please tell me this is normal. I've never suffered with depression before and although I am an emotional person my tears are usually appropriate, now am crying all the time. I wish I could turn the clock back because if I knew I was gonna feel like this I would never of had it done. I was really hoping to go back to work soon, but how I am at the minute there is no way I could go back.

Cat I've been exactly the same I cry at everything. It's such an emotional and worrying time. I've been I tears wondering if I have done the right thing too. Now I keep getting this feeling in my abdomen like I can feel something is there. I just hope it's swelling and not anything else x

This is so normal guys and its because of all the hormones being released as your fat is being burned off. Give it time and you will wonder why you ever regretted it.

Fee I'm the same, convinced that something is going to go wrong.. I just want to get back to normal ASAP. My energy levels are zero. I know have got a chest infection which doesn't help, but I feel I should be further along than I am. Doesn't help not being able to drive!
Anyway how are you? Are you back home now? Did mr Ahmed say what was wrong?

It is reassuring to hear this, thanks Yvessa, how long was it until you started to feel ok post op? I'm hoping that things should start to improve over the next week. Xx

Thanks BBB il give it a try.

Are you any better now? Xx

Hi,getting there I think it been easy trying to sit down or go to bed,I'm well pleased that I can lay in bed but still need a soft pillow on my left side, how are you? I'm not drinking hot drinks yet and can only drink about 2x 900mls a day.
One of my main worries is been constipated, but trial and error there.
Hope your on the mend soon.

I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully another week off and I will be able to go back to work. Glad your getting there, some days I struggle with fluids and some days I don't, I'm better with hot fluids than cold xx

Glad ur feeling better ladies x I'm still in hospital. :( felt loads better last night then woke up about 5am feeling dizzy and sick and sweating . They said I'm dehydrated again so on another drip I just wanna go home Waiting for Mr Ahmed as I can feeling something pressing inside I hope it's just normal swelling. X

Crikey you poor ladies have been through the mill.

I hope you both get better very soon.

I'm sure it's all just teething problems and other bypassers will be able to reassure you xx

As Yve said. It Perfectly normal hun but probably not helped by being unwell either. At this stage post op our energy levels are pretty much non existent and it won't improve until you start introducing more solid food into your diet. I was like a clockwork toy on wind down mode. I would start off energetic but once that energy was quickly depleted I would grind to a halt and no amount of geeing myself up worked as I simply did not have the energy! But this too will pass ;) xx

It was about two weeks, but if you're having complications it can take longer I'm afraid. Just hang in there ladies.

For those of you struggling with taking onboard enough fluids ... Have you tried measured amounts every hour? I was on 125ml every hour for 16 hours a day, for two weeks immediately post bypass (four months ago). Then free fluids, but I do find it hard to keep the quantity going so have gone back to the old routine as above and it really helps. If it's something o'clock I have a drink (125 ml is a little less than a small teacup so not hard to get down). Good luck everyone ... We are keeping the laxative manufacturers in business meantime ;-)
