Please help i fear my op may be cancelled

I recieved a letter today from Salford Royal asking me to attend an outpatients appointment on the 21st of Jan with Dr Needham who is the cardio and sleep disorder specialist.
My Op date is the 13th Jan so i rang Mr Agwunobi's PAand told her thn she said that we need to be sure there are no problems before the op so that i will be ok but now i cant get hold of Dr Needhams P/A and i am rally stressed out.
Sorry to ramble but does anyone have sleep apneoa who has had the gastric bypass and if so what happens. Please answer cos i fear i may explode soon xx

Sorry not had op yet but have recently been diagnosed with mild sleep apneoa and am on a cpap machine. Do you have any symptoms of sleep apneoa. eg not sleeping well, feeling tired during the day, snoring etc.

Yeh i snore alot but had the test done ages ago and heard nothing therefore assumed i was ok, i did also wake up and find it next to my bed, which cant be good.

It really depends on the severity of ur Apnoe, if its mild then it should not be a prob but if its a moderate/severe then they usually require you to be on ur cpap machine for a period of time before.

I had and still have sleep apnea and until it was under control with the CPAP machine which it was within a month of having it i was not put on the waiting list for Surgery, though mine was severe ie i stopped breathing 82 times an hour, within a month of the machine it had gone down to 3, with regards to the op they need to know this has they put more oxygen into you afterwards, i know you dont want to hear this Nadine but trust me its better to be safe than sorry.

I dont know if this will delay things but you need to be as healthy as possible going into this x sure when you get in contact with the dr he will have the best advice for you x take care hun x

Thanks everyone, of course you're all right and i feel more at ease with everything now. I havent been able to speak to anyone yet but i'm not too worried now cos one way or another it will be sorted. Cheers everyone

I have been trying but cos of the festivities no body is working. I will try again after christmas and start my milk diet as planned. x

hi i was diagnosed with sleep apnea while i was waiting for bypass if the people who done the test did not contact you straight away your sleep apnea cant be that bad if you dont buy your own machine it can take up to 3 months to wait for one on the nhs i bought mine so i could get back on the waiting list because they wont operate unless the sleep apnea is under control but believe me you feel so much better when you do get your machine i waited 19 months for my bypass i know the waiting can get fustrating but hang in there
