Pre-op diet starts today Op in 2 weeks.

Day 4 has begun and I am already knackered bad nights sleep worse than usual. Just want to go back to bed rather than work but not possible. Diet itself is fine just tired and dizzy, totally lacking in energy another long day flitting across the school. I think this weekend may well be a sit on the bum one rather than the housework and visiting one planned.

hi penelope, your nearly there girl!,can you believe it,,after all the ops and downs, worries and doubts,,,your doing so well,i admire yous pre oppers who work away from home ,i dont know how you do it,with so little energy, just wanted to wish you well really , and hope the rest of the milk diet goes quickly for you ,cant wait to watch you shrink into the new you xx

Thanks Starr diet is tough not because of the milk but the fatigue and shakes especially while working school sites huge and I spend most lessons walking across it. So really tough in that way. The support is really appreciated.

Penelope,

I so sympathise with you at this moment in time, my surgery will be 5 days after yours and my 10 day pre-op diet will start officially on the 29th June but, I have started with it now so that I can lower my chances of becoming fatigued and weary by stretching out the times that I eat and letting it get bigger as the week goes on. It has helped because I haven't had the shakes yet. I think the fruit give me a natural sugar boost even though I only have a few strawberries every couple of hours. I am used to forgetting to eat while crafting because once I get started and I am on a roll time runs away from me and before I know, its tea-time!

I am not saying I am infalable to the diet but I hope I am going to be a little more prepared by reducing my intake voluntarily. Does the sound silly?

Ahh Penelope,

My heart aches for you hun and like you I have been through the motions, should I, shouldn't I. And I know I will be just as nervouse then as I am now.

I live on my own and because my daughter has her oldest child to pick up from school I dont' have anyone to go to the hospital with me. Even though I have a big family there isnt anyone who can come with me as they all have other committments :(

My admission time is 3:00pm, my daughter can only drop me off so she can get back for sch pick up at 3:15. I hope you have someone who can lend you support during this difficult time and encourages you to keep on. As my ticker says "My future is waiting" and thats what spurs me on :)

Well done on your journey so far!

Yes my otherhalf will be with me, but I'm told partners etc are not encouraged to stay while we wait to go through. As there are lots of people waiting to go through and the hospital want privacy respected. So in at 11am a few checks etc then through to the waiting room hubby waved off to wait to get changed and then walk to theatre. He can come back later on to see me on the ward but this would mean him hanging around for at least 6hrs ( surgeries start around 1.30pm I'm told) assuming I go down first 2-3hrs op plus recovery it could be gone 5pm before I am on the ward with an hrs drive home to the kids luckily old enough to sort themselves out.
So I shall see what he wants to do and the hospital say. Good luck on your journey to.

I go in on the Friday for all pre-op tests and dont have surhery until the Saturday. So, there is time before hand for me to worry my fingers to the bone with my teeth LOL :D

Penelope,

I wish you all the very best and a speedy recovering hun. Just think.... This time next month we will both be post op an moaning about how much pain we're in but how much worth it all was.

Good luck to you too :)

Well done Penny another day down, but sorry you are beginning to feel it, rest is the only answer, luckily for me I worked in a padded cell so don't need to walk about too much, just to get my jobs for the day and sit at my workbench and fix away, only need to walk to the loo or clean up the dogs mess. Just take it easy and do what you can do, but don't overdo it. I never felt bad until the wednesday before my op(the first one), on the the second attempt I got through with no problems, but I did a 50/50 diet of food one week and milk diet the second. Anyway tomorrow is POETS day and then the weekend, so feet up and try your best to be pampered.

@mightyminx49 to be honest I had very little pain from the op itself, just a few pulls on the stitches now and then, I hope your ops will be the same. They no longer gave oralmorph at Bournemouth just paracetamol and Neurofen for kids. Good luck on your op day.

Thanks Bob,
Yeah not too bad in the end had a couple of lessons I could just sit and relax even if for one I was working but not needed to do anything much. This weekend I plan to visit my mum and dad for a few hours while the rest of the family are away at various things they are into , Glasto and Air cadet activity weekend, oh and the eldest still at Uni (has a part time job so is there year round only home for the odd weekend). Keeps me away from temptaion although I may have a lay in in the morning as no one to get up or snore next to me keeping me awake. Lol
Still feel wiped out especially when I try to do anything but determination keeps me going. Yeah I have a POETS day today but only as I have a lunch duty supporting vulnerable pupils and no chance of a break before or after that duty as in lessons so get to escape last lesson and go home to make up for it.

My advise -(for what its worth LOL! ) is stick with the diet. Officially it will be the last diet you will ever be on!!!! Once your tummy has settled and i mean fully settled (i am 9 months in now) you can pretty much eat anything but in very small amounts. I have lost 7 stone and keep going. So it goes to show - there is life after a gastric bypass.

I go out for meals too and just have a starter - or help myself to everyone elses food xxx

Thanks Willow65,
I am determined to stick to it no matter how rough I feel but infact today I have felt the best I have for days so perhaps my body had just got used to the diet. If it has long may it last.

Good luck, i'm on a pre op diet but feel lucky it is not the milk diet. travel 4 days a weeks and all the milk etc... would be a struggle.
We will all in 4 weeks be post op and hobbling through the pain! Good Luck again

Well Day 5 completed without feeling so tired and Day 6 just starting feeling much more like my normal self and ready to do all those little jobs I planned, layin happened until joint pain meant couldn't stay there any longer. Lots planned for today but all can be adapted if the current feeling of well being doesn't last.

Thanks Gary, I'll let you off as you were busy chasing those poor nurses around as well as having a small matter of your op. Glad you are home and feeling fine. Tink kept us entertained in your absence. Loved the double act. Lol Take care slow and steady to recover and start the journey to slim peterbrough guy, hope the losers bench is well padded for when we all lose the current natural padding on the bum and need a bit more of a comfy seat. Look forward to hearing how your new trip as a post-opper is going.

Talking of comfy seats, my bum h in front of you, and get plenty of rest too. Went to the docs yesterday And he was happy apart from my BP which is a bit up and down at the moment but he expected that. Miserable git only gave me another 2 weeks off, total of 5 weeks, but no heavy lifting when I get back to work. A couple of my incisions are very red but not infected so I have to keep an eye on them. Will soon be back to see baby brain and co. We have even booked a holiday now to get away from here for a week or so. Have a nice weekend don't drink too much oxo. xx
