Pre-op diet starts today Op in 2 weeks.

Week 2 begins and day 8 not long now lets hope today and the rest of the week is as good as the weekend rather than the fatigue and feeling crap of last week time will tell. Bring on the last full week of work before my op.

Day 10 today, count down can really start now, downhill slide to Tuesday. Only the other halfs 48th to celebrate thursday and eldest home for the weekend so family gathering Sunday. Having a job in Cardiff to support himself through Uni means he doesn't make it back to often and trying to get to him when we are all free is difficult so will be lovely to spoil him again for a couple of days.?

Good Morning Penelope, I am really happy to see that you are coping with the milk diet. I started on Monday gone as I miscalculated the 10 days before the op as 29th when in fact it was 28th. Good job I decided to started it early. Since I started weighing myself every morning since last Friday when I was 19st 11lbs I have seen a drop in my weight and this morning I am 19st 7lbs (124kg) according to my digital scales that only show st & lbs or kgs. so thats a 4lb weightloss!! Yippee. Did you get a 14 day pre-op diet or a 10 day as I noticed that today is your 10th day. Keep up the good work as I know I will. I hope your fatigue is minimal while you have to work and that you get pampered when at home.

14day one so far so good weigh in tonight will find out how much more I have lost since the 4lb I lost in 1st 3 days. Good luck with yours not long now for you either.

Thanks Penelope,

No not long now but you have yours before me and I wish you good look too. Am feeling tired ths afternoon and know its the lack of food but I haven't had the shakes since yesterday. Am at PAAC at 9am tomorrow so wont be online until I get back home. Take care

Day 10 went well and a 4lb loss at weigh in last night a total of 8lb since I started the pre-op diet a good if not great loss but not sure if I am a bit disappointed as others seem to have lost a lot more than that, but I shouldn't compare I suppose. I have stuck rigidly to the diet and not cheated or slipped at all so am not sure if it is good, bad enough or not as far as liver shrink is concerned. I suppose we will find out next week on op day only 4 days left of the diet not counting today and breakfast on op day (cereal or toast before 7am as it is an afternoon op then only water until 11am). Oh well nearly there.

Hi Penelope

Have had my pre-op assessment this morning and have weighed in at 122.8kg = 19st 4.7lbs a loss of 23lbs!!! am ecstatic!! BP was 133/97 and nurse Denise was happy with that. Had bloods and MRSA swab done and walked out of the clinic with a huge grin on my face. :D
Having a pre-med to calm me down as I am scared spitless :(

Hope you have had your pre-op assessment and passed with flying colours too. If not, good luck hun x

Penelope, I wish you luck and wish mine was over and done with. I am doing ok on the pre-op diet and got a good recipe for a veg soup from Denise, the nurse at the SRH this morning and I can smell it cooking now. DELIGHTFUL even if it is just Carrots, turnip, tomatoes, leek, onions, cabbage and peppers. Chicken oxo and mixed herbs. In a slow cooker over nighty, blitzed in blender then back in slow cooker to thicken. yummmmmmy

Day 11, so far so good, weight loss so far on pre-op doesn't seem to brilliant and then I thought some of those I am comparing myself to have been on it for longer so perhaps my losses aren't so low after all. The blurb says 1oz of glycogen is stored with 3-4oz of water so if I did the maths it probably is a lot of shinkage really. 8lbs = 8x16 = 128oz. 128 divided by 4 = 32 so potentially 32oz glycogen lost and 96oz water. so not bad if not great really as far as the liver shrinkage is concerned I hope. funny how maths makes it look better and me feel better about what I had thought of as a small amount of loss. God you can tell I live eat and breath maths at work I am really sad. Lol.

Penelope,, You are doing fine, Don't concentrate on the scales and just keep doing the diet. We all loose at different rates and I can understand you doing mathematical statistics etc.. But come operation day, you will be surprised how efficient the pre-op diet was.

Good luck for the op.. enjoy the ride! It Rocks!

Thanks Jay. Don't normally focus on the scales or others comparative losses.
It's Just the importance and implications of the necessity for the pre-op loss is making me a bit paranoid. So near and yet so far until I am awake post-op with it all done, and the start of the journey is finished the next phase started and my bum on that losers bench.
3 colleagues gave me a gift today

You lucky lucky girl :D and I wish you all the very best for Tuesday hun x

Day 13. A lovely day with all my boys and parents, now tired but happy. Last full day tomorrow and of work no nerves still. Mum reassured me I could still change my mind right up to the starting the anaesthetic. I won't be doing that though.

With luck Bob I should be home and resting by the 9th all being well. 1 full day and a few hours on the second until I join you on the losers bench. I really can hardly wait now.

So glad you had some quality time with your boys Penny, and you are still cool calm and collected, well done you..It's all uphill from here onwards hehehe!! So glad that you won't be changing your mind, you have come this far and the finishing line just a few yards away now. Have a nice last day at work hope you get away early, miserable git's should have you the day off!! Take care. x
